I don’t suppose listing the restrictions would be to much to ask?

  3. Jennifer, west Sedona says:

    guess not, it’s there already

  4. same old says:

The story is the big marathon was a bust this year. And the reason being the big operators at the C of C hired an outside firm to handle the event. Said firm didn’t even publicize the race! So one of the great events in Sedona during the down season for tourism occurred with only a limited number of people knowing about it.

Way to go Sedona. Finally concrete proof of your mishandling of city funds via the chamber of commerce. Shame on you! What better reason do you need to cease and desist coddling this amateur operation. The only reason THEIR Visitors Center works (NOT that of the CITY) is because of citizen volunteers, who do it to benefit tourists and NOT the chamber or the city.

It will be interesting to watch how they screw up the concept of “sustainability” since they now have millions of dollars to throw away at whatever! In a word? CRAZY.

Sorry not true, hotels were full on a weekend that is normally dead.
marathon is about putting heads in beds and people in restaurants.
Steve Sedona Lodging council. hope that helps.
It is not a marathon it is 10 k and 5 k run, over 3000 signed up to run, the run was put on by an out side company that puts on marathons all over the county.
Notice the same old comment (NOT that of the CITY) is because of citizen volunteers, who do it to benefit tourists and NOT the chamber or the city. more then 10,000 people came to Sedona on a slow weekend great job chamber for all your help.
I do not understand why Rumors Fly says can not use a real name or is it because she just make stuff up .

  8. John Daniels W Sedona says:

    @Rumors Fly

It would be great if you posted where you got those attendance stats from because they haven’t been released to the public yet. I was there watching my grandson race and the place was packed just like last year. It’s so sad that “haters just have to hate” no matter what.

Too bad you don’t have the gumption to post under your real name but then you’d have to own your lies.

  9. mshobert says:

All of this ignorance in one spot. Maybe get a little exercise yourselves, instead of complaining about everything. A ‘running event’ like this is good for the city. So much hatred in one place. People move too Sedona. The smart ones leave. The rest stay and complain about everything, then die.

  10. @mshorbert says:

    Mr. Shobert:

Truer words have never been spoken.

  11. The illiterate and crooks stay says:

    From posts above,

“Truer words have never been spoken.” “People move too Sedona. The smart ones leave.”

If you are in on the current grift and destruction of a once beautiful small town, like a parasite you hang around until the host dies.

It’s a statement on our current society that for the most part people are not willing to sacrifice for the common good. A price will be paid, nothing stays the same forever.

  12. steve Segner says:

RunSedona is a boost during our need season, last year injecting $4.8 million into the economy with dining, hiking, biking, shopping and sightseeing as the most popular visitor activities. Attendees booked 6,775 hotel rooms nights . RunSedona is moving closer to zero-waste and delivering the message that Sedona cares about minimizing environmental impact.

The Chamber is a proud sponsor, and we congratulate Blue Wolf and all who made it another great success!

    Jennifer Wesselhoff, President/CEO
    Sorry Donna

  13. Joan says:

So funny the cast of takers are. Spin spin spin @mshorbert @karen @John Daniels W Sedona

your posts create transparency. thank you!

  14. @Rumors Fly says:

Good job! You really pushed the right buttons on those faithful readers of Sedona Eye, the ones representing the true haters and wannabe control freaks. Love it!

  15. @ steve Segner says:

“RunSedona is moving closer to zero-waste and delivering the message that Sedona cares about minimizing environmental impact.”

Really? All those people come here and eat, shop and sleep but don’t bathe, use or throw out anything and manage to hold it the entire time? What a miracle!

  16. @steve segner says:

What impact does the Run/Walk have on the desert itself? What about the road asphalt and destruction of shoes that’ll need replacing? What about the carbon footprint because Sedona enticed them to drive long distances to get here while polluting the air and using fossil fuels in their gas tanks and caused the mining of precious metals to make their cars? Did they all check their phones before driving up to the mountain to not cause emf pollution? Give us a break @segner. There is NO ZERO. Not even in the most remote places on the planet. The only ZERO in Sedona is the city future funds during down economies. LMAO

  17. Nancy Johnson Lower Red Rock Loop says:

    Mr. Segner:
I appreciate the Chamber’s hard work to sponsor the Run Sedona event.

  18. steve Segner says:

Nancy yes it was a nice event, seem that some people in Sedona just don’t like anything put on by the chamber or the city. People on Sedona eye make nasty comments with out using a real name thank you for using yours . You may notice Sedona now lets people post using my name knowing full well that I did not post the comment .

  19. Steve Segner says:

It’s funny how steve allows 3 different writers to use his name, as the only one clearly identifiable as the real steve is clearly illiterate. Then one of those writers, the one who uses steve Segner, complains. But, but, you’re not the real stevie, you can spell. The would probably make the one who signs steve Segner Jen. Karen tends to type when she has had a few and is not that bright.

It would be so much fun to have all previous posts identified clearly with the real authors name. I read the comments just for a laugh.

  20. So funny says:

When someone writing as steve Segner says

“You may notice Sedona now lets people post using my name knowing full well that I did not post the comment .”

We all know segner can neither spell nor compose a coherent sentence.

  21. The NonAthon says:

Truth about the marathon this year: There was not a “marathon” mileage race, did not have it last year. Only ½ marathon and the smaller races.Didn’t seem like a lot of participants. Another Sedona event gone the way of the sewer plant? And at what cost $$$$$$????

Truth about the marathon this year: There was not a “marathon” ???
Yes it was called 10k 5 k run. Hope that helps.
What is your point , the city should not have an event for the whole family that brings in thousands of dollars to the city it’s merchants ,hotels and city taxes…..and give locals a great out door family event…..

    10K & 5K: Saturday, February 1, 2020
10K and 5K – Great Family Friendly Fun!

To Your sewer plant comment , it was built over 30 years ago get a life…..oh god $48 a month

  23. @ Steve Segner says:

    “oh god $48 a month.”

Since it is so little why don’t you propose it be voluntary to the residents. After all, you say tourists pay for everything.

  24. JD, West Sedona says:

Just another C of C failed effort. (as it appeared was their “destination marketing” since the most they attracted were day trippers.)

Face it @Steve Segner – the event began to collapse last year and then C of C hired an outside firm (all that do-re-me from the city) and it was WORSE! No putting the cat back in the bag.

As the final applicants for city attorney are being interviewed by city council next week, hope they will be asked about this idiotic situation with funding the chamber for questionable purposes. That asinine 8-year contract can be cancelled, ya know. (a happy day for Sedona should that occur – IMO)

  25. steve Segner says:

    . JD, West Sedona says:
JD the city had the best fist Quarter ever, tax income way over budget , more money to use for city services…… Thanks Chamber
Please JD, visitors to Sedona that come from Phoenix or California even Day trippers are welcome especially in slow months….Remember You are just a visitor that live in Sedona you have no special rights.
    “oh god $48 a month.”
Since it is so little why don’t you propose it be voluntary to the residents.
Nothing free why should visitors pay for your wast? they allready pick up 80 of the cost of Sedona …..
