Yavapai Foundation Elects Padgett and Block

PRESCOTT AZ (April 16, 2012) —The Yavapai County Community Foundation announced that its Advisory Board elected Jodi Padgett to serve as chair and Sharon Block to serve as vice chair.

Jodi Padgett has been a member of the YCCF Advisory Board since 2007. She has served on the Investment Committee of the Arizona Community Foundation, as past president and current treasurer of the Highlands Center for Natural History, and as a member of the Preventative Elder Abuse Council. In November of 2010, she was awarded the Philanthropist Leadership Award of Yavapai County.

“I am honored to be at the helm of an organization about which I feel so passionately,” says Padgett. “Being able to help people help our great community through legacy planning allows a family to extend their philanthropy through the ages.”

A partner of Taylor & Padgett Wealth & Legacy Strategies, Padgett is a Certified Financial Planner and MS in Financial Planning, College of Financial Planning. She takes the motto of the firm to heart, by striving to partner with people who want to make wise decisions about money and who endeavor to leave a legacy, both personal and financial.

Sharon Block has served on the Governor’s Child Protective Services Task Force and the Mingus Union High School Principal’s Advisory Committee. A 3-year member of the YCCF Advisory Board, she also supports the Verde Valley Children’s Fund and is a volunteer with the Yavapai County Medical Reserve Corps. Block holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University.

“As a part of my responsibilities with YCCF, I am currently serving on the Grants Committee reviewing applications from nonprofit organizations across Yavapai County who apply to YCCF for funding,” says Block. “The incredible work done by these agencies is awe-inspiring and makes me proud to live in this grand county.”

Block is a counselor at the Yavapai County Detention Facility where she works in the Restoration to Competency Program. Prior to retirement, she had been a social worker for the Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District, where she had worked since 1980. Block is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and a recipient of the Arizona Department of Commerce’s Five Star Outstanding Practice Award, the Youth Development International Award, the Verde Valley Pride Day Award for Education and the YCCF Community Philanthropist Award.

The Yavapai County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Arizona Community Foundation, is a 19-year-old permanent philanthropic endowment for the enduring benefit of our community. Its mission is to lead, serve and collaborate to mobilize enduring philanthropy for a better Yavapai County. It secures, manages and allocates donors’ gifts for charitable purposes in the County while working to improve the quality of life for local residents.

Since its inception in 1993, YCCF has contributed millions of dollars to Yavapai County nonprofit organizations and the communities they serve.
