Verde Connect Project: Build or No-Build Public Comment Period Opens Soon

Thirty day public comment period is anticipated to close in late May 2020. Your comments are requested at www.VerdeConnect.com. Click on map face.

Sedona AZThe Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) document for the Verde Connect project, prepared to meet the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), is nearing completion, with publication anticipated to occur in late April 2020. This publication will begin a 30-day public comment period that is anticipated to close in late May 2020.

It is important that the project team receive public comments on the EA and the project within that time period. No decision on whether the project will move forward has been made.

The decision whether to construct the new roadway or go with the no-build alternative will occur after the public comment period when the EA is finalized.

The project team is planning a public involvement process that will include presentation of project information and engagement of the public and project stakeholders, including opportunities to provide comments on the EA. The public review and comment period for the EA is a critical step in the NEPA process and your input is important to us.

Due to the ongoing national emergency surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the project team is developing a plan to ensure that information and associated materials are made available for everyone in a safe manner. This will include posting all materials on the project website www.VerdeConnect.com. The public engagement format is still under development, and more information will follow as it becomes available over the next 30 days.

Yavapai County and the Federal Highway Administration appreciate continued patience and understanding during this process.
