Sedona City Council Discusses ADOT Board Appeal

Sedona Arizona (May 9, 2011)–Planned for the Tuesday, May 10, 2011 scheduled Sedona City Council meeting is a discussion and possible action regarding members attending the May 20, 2011 scheduled Arizona State Transportation Board meeting (ADOT).

The purpose would be to request on behalf of the City of Sedona that ADOT extend the June 30, 2011 route transfer agreement expiration date to after November 8, 2011 to allow for a referendum election to take place.

Although ADOT recently declined the City of Sedona’s request to extend the current route transfer agreement deadline, in its April 28, 2011 letter to the City, approval of this agenda item would allow a delegation of Council members to make one final request to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Board.

The Council meeting is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. and the revised agenda may be viewed at http://www.sedonaaz.gov/Sedonacms/Modules/ShowDocument.aspx?documentid=12177.

Public notice is hereby given that the Sedona City Council meeting is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. with the revised agenda. For more information, please contact the Sedona City Manager’s office at 928-204-7127. The City of Sedona begins a Four-Day Ten-Hour Day Work Week starting May 22, 2011. City Hall will be open for business Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and be closed on Fridays. This is the second year this schedule is being put into service and is effective through September 10, 2011. The Community Development department will remain closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.  The Police Department will continue normal daily operations, remaining available and open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

ADOT needs to be told that Sedona runs Sedona & not its pinheads. Does it seem to you that Sedona lawyers are intimidated or seem unwilling to do what needs to be done even with clear cut options and the law on the Council vote side? Job security issues? Conflicts of interest issues? Friends in high places issues? Promotion issues? They’re are/were friends issues? And or the old standby, why go out on a limb if the bosses keep changing issues? Sad state of affairs in this city. Because in the end it’s us taxpaying shmoes that get shafted and not with gold at the end of the tunnel.

Look at this link for a written piece and the video of Councilor Dinunzio saying the referendum was not about letting the people vote! http://www.sedona.biz/news-from-sedona/democracy-or-deception/
