Sedona Honors National Police Week

Sedona AZ (May 13, 2011)–National Police Week, which occurs each year during the week in which May 15 falls, recognizes the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

A proclamation, recognizing National Police Week, National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and the commitment of Sedona Police Officers to the community was read by Mayor Rob Adams at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 10, 2011.

Sadly, a number of Arizona law enforcement officers each year lose their lives while ensuring the safety of their communities and brethren. In honor of all those who have made this ultimate sacrifice, Sedona Police Officers will wear badge shrouds from May 15th to the 21st. Additionally, blue ribbons provided by the Concerns of Police Survivors will be attached to all marked police vehicles in support of our law enforcement family.
