Runaways

Sedona AZ (March 11, 2014) – Runaway juveniles, Gregorio Mocasque, 13, and eleven year-old Troy Stallings were taken into custody without incident today at about 5:07 p.m. by Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies.

CCSO deputies, United States Marshall’s Service Task Force members, Flagstaff Arizona Police Officers, and Coconino County Sheriff’s Civilian Patrol Volunteers spent all day Tuesday, March 11, 2014, searching for the two boys by going door to door in the Doney Park neighborhood informing residents that the two boys might be armed.

Today at about 1:10 p.m. while searching for the missing subjects, Sheriff’s deputies and Flagstaff Police Officers found the hand gun believed to have been in the possession of the missing juveniles. The gun was found abandoned in a forested area close to Turkey Hill and Foster Road in the Doney Park subdivision.

At about 5:00 p.m. today, Sheriff’s Emergency Dispatcher’s received a call from a woman living in the Doney Park Neighborhood advising she was watching the two suspects in the area of the pond located off of Foster Road. Two deputies were in the immediate area checking an abandoned shed when they received the call. Seven minutes later, the Deputies had the two subjects in custody without incident.

The concerned citizen had been contacted earlier in the day by law enforcement officials and informed of the possible danger and was given a flyer (right) with photographs of both boys. Both Mocasque and Stallings were released to Coconino County Juvenile Detention officials late Tuesday evening.

The men and women of the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office consider themselves very fortunate to serve in a county where community members partner with law enforcement to report suspicious persons and activity and are vital in promoting neighborhood safety. The CCSO would like to thank all cooperating agencies for assistance and the Arizona Department of Public Safety Air Rescue Helicopter crew.
