Humane Society of Sedona on Shelby Drive
Sedona AZ (February 2, 2014) – SedonaEye.com Harley McGuire Star Four Paws Up Pet Columnist wants his pals and their families to know that the Humane Society of Sedona “Be a Part of the Fix” campaign offers no-cost spay and neuter services to income qualified residents of the Sedona and the Verde Valley. HSS received a boost from PetSmart Charities® with a generous grant that will assure hundreds of needy pet owners free spay and neuter services.
The need within the Verde Valley for no-cost spay and a neuter service is significant. There are an estimated 3,400 cats in the area that are still not altered. This large number of cats is actively producing multiple litters throughout the year which results in pet homelessness, shelter intake, and ultimately euthanasia.
There are two main reasons why pet owners delay fixing pets: First, the cost of the surgery is unaffordable and secondly, the location of the clinic is too far away. The PetSmart grant helps to eliminate these barriers for pet owners by providing spay and neutering services for free at the Humane Society of Sedona on-site clinic, as well as the clinics of three partnering veterinarians in the Verde Valley area.
Since its inception in February of 2014, Be a Part of the Fix is the only ongoing no cost spay and neuter campaign available with the Verde Valley. HSS and its partners have provided over 700 no-cost spay and neuter surgeries.
With the added support of the new grant, HSS will focus its spay and neuter initiative on the cat population in Sedona and the Verde Valley over the next year, with the intention to provide surgeries to 60% of unaltered cats. Grant funds will assure that 800 cats are spayed or neutered in 2015.
Donations from the community are needed to fund operations for the remaining 60% of the targeted goal.

My only wish is that the many volunteers who left the place where I was adopted would return. We all know that Sedona Humane Society cares more for their Executive Director then the nurturing and caring volunteers who helped me get adopted 2 years ago.
The director came with limited credentials——need is to prioritize some lost focus. I agree. Well run before not so much after.
Well, ya know what ah think? Seems like everyone and everything’s sort of topsy-turvy. Hearing them two-footed critters talk, seems like there’s some sort of big disagreement up at that airplane place. Then comes a big to-do bout somebody being recoiled on what ah thinks is a school rod or board or somethin’. Then there’s constant turmoil over a city room and chamber center ’bout visiting and stuff. Constant tug o-war if ya ask me but of course ya din’t.
Seems too some retard folks makin’ the rules are complainin’ bout too many other retarded people livin’ mongt us who don’t pay something to play. What if they’s too dang tard to play? Too many two-footers full of themselves if ya ask me (but course ya din’t)
So, guess ah just don’t know what to think. What ah do care bout, tho, is the number of homeless pets. So even tho ya mite not like changes up at the home for homeless pets, kindly remember it’s there welfair at stake here. Goin’ on strike even tho ya might not hanker to the new changes it ain’t gonna help our friends who aren’t lucky like those of us livin’ snuggly in lovin’ forever homes.
Maybe them’s doin’ the hiring up there will read your thoughts on this sad situation and take heed (or “heel” if that works.)
