Contraception Is Now Free Under Title 10

Sedona AZ (February 14, 2012) – The following is a letter to the SedonaEye.com editor: Hello Friends, If the government announced it was giving everyone “free wine” because it reduces heart problems, promotes health, and lowers health care premiums, would you give Baptist Churches an exception?   Baptist Churches are against using wine and tell their members not to use it. Would you force...

SFD Media Spokesman Refuses to Address Public

Joe Demme, SFD selection committee media spokesman Dear Sedona Eye Editor, During the January 11, 2012, meeting of the selection committee, (see item III. Subsection B. of the attached Draft Minutes) there was a vote to refer all media requests to chairman, Joe Demme. Yet Mr. Demme has refused comment until after the next chief is selected.  Why?  If all members of the committee are required to...

SFD Recall Election Candidates Biographies

Dear Friends and Residents of the Sedona Fire District (SFD), Recently a recall completed against Sedona Fire District Governing Board member’s Dave Blauert, Charles Christensen, and Phyllis Erick with overwhelming success. As your former Fire Chief, I continuously communicated information to the citizens within the Sedona Fire District.  I now am running as your candidate in the Special Recall Election...

Sedona Fire Board Recall Election Candidates

Dear Sedona Eye Editor, It is an honor to introduce and provide information on the Candidates running for the recalled seats on the Sedona Fire District Governing Board. These people will establish financial stability, protect our professional emergency services, and work within the limits of Board authority. A refreshing change, indeed! I know as the weeks roll by, more and more people will become...

Internet Blackout Day on January 18

Dear Word Press Editors, WordPress.org is officially joining the protest against Senate Bill 968: the Protect IP Act that is coming before the U.S. Senate next week. As I wrote in my post a week ago, if this bill is passed it will jeopardize internet freedom and shift the power of the independent web into the hands of corporations. We must stop it. On January 18, 2012 many sites around the web...

Fire Chief Selection Committee Adjourns to Sedona Resort

Dear Sedona Eye Editor,   The SFD Governing Board has adjourned into Executive Session many times during the last few months.  Yet even the Board, with all its secret stuff going on behind closed doors — stuff to which the public is not so privileged to witness — manages Executive Sessions in the ever-available meeting room at Station #1, bearing no public expense.   Not so,...

Abandoned Political Signs Indicate Lack of Character

Abandoned political signs litter Arizona highways Dear Verde Valley residents, Americans and taxpayers,   PC, also known as political correctness, isn’t part of my vocabulary – so hang on tight.   When I was young, 65 years ago, the nearest adult could reshape the attitude of any young person out of control, without hesitation or beating-around-the-bush trying to be PC. What...

What’s Next For Sedona?

Where do we go now? The issue of taking back the road is a dead issue with the community with the only exception that Hamilton and Rayner may still take the voters to court to try to overturn 411. We will see if they honor the vote of the residents or use an outside group to take this to court. What we do have in front of us is a city council election just a few short months away. Who will be the candidates?...

Open Letter to ADOT Director

Dear Mr. Halikowski (Director ADOT), We are requesting that the hundreds of litter bags “bagged” this weekend on Highway 260 and Scenic Highway 89A (30 miles) be left in place until November 27, 2011. On November 27, they will be picked up by our recycling crew instead of your Highway Maintenance Departments having to deal with this chore (time and money saved). The recycling effort...
