Background – Following a traffic violation by a red Chevrolet pick-up truck on Arizona Interstate 40 eastbound, YCSO K9 deputies signaled the vehicle to pull over. Its driver was identified as Wallace McMaster, and he was accompanied by one passenger, Sherri McMaster, his wife. While conversing, the deputy noticed numerous signs of deception as the two appeared more nervous than the innocent motoring public. Additionally, the McMasters were unable to answer basic questions that a husband and wife sharing a destination would commonly know. This, along with additional observations, led deputies to believe the vehicle might contain drugs.

During a consent search, the K9 deputy noticed a couple of suspicious containers in the bed of the pick-up. Deploying his K9 partner for an exterior sniff of the truck bed, the dog alerted on the tailgate area and door seams. During an examination of a cooler in the truck bed, the deputy found that its liner had been modified. Once the liner was removed, a hollow compartment revealed over a half pound of packaged methamphetamine. Inside the cab of the truck, deputies found a marijuana cigarette.

At this point, the man admitted the two were involved in the transportation of methamphetamine with intent to sell in Arkansas. Both were booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center and remain in-custody, each on an $80,000 bond.
