YCSO Warrant Issued for Vehicle Theft Suspect

Charles Gregory Jones is wanted on a warrant by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.

Sedona AZ (October 17, 2018) – In July of this year, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted Chino Valley Police officers with a stolen vehicle search when, not long after midnight on July 9, Chino Valley Police officers alerted YCSO that a black Jeep Wrangler had just been stolen from the Circle K store on Highway 89 and was likely heading north towards Paulden and Ash Fork, Arizona.

Chino Valley Police officers identified the suspect as Charles Gregory Jones, 46. When deputies attempted to stop the stolen vehicle on Highway 89 north of Drake, it sped away at over 100 mph. The vehicle exited onto Bullock Road and drove in excess of 80 mph. Deputies lost sight of the vehicle as they had to slow due to rough terrain. The unoccupied Jeep was eventually located and recovered the same evening, but suspect Jones could not be found.

The next day, Jones was located at the Seligman Court by YCSO deputies when he appeared on an unrelated matter. He was arrested and transported to the Chino Valley Police department. Chino Valley detectives interviewed Jones and he admitted stealing the Jeep and fleeing law enforcement while driving DUI. He was released pending further investigation.

Last week, a warrant was issued in this matter for Jones charging Fleeing Law Enforcement Vehicle, Vehicle Theft, and DUI. He has additional warrants for Assault with Intent to Injure and a Liquor in Vehicle Violation. Jones total bond is $25,000.

Jones lives and frequents the Juniper Woods subdivision of Ash Fork, Arizona. He is 6’ tall, 205 pounds with green eyes, gray hair in a buzz cut, and has numerous tattoos.
