Sedona Parks and Recreation Offers Food Pyramid Fun

The City of Sedona is pleased to offer Food Pyramid Fun.  This six-week class for parents and their children teaches the fundamentals of the USDA Food pyramid. It explains the 5 food groups, the food contained within each groups, serving sizes, daily amounts and components of healthy meals. The class includes colorful handouts, 3-D pyramid, food models and fun and creative activities to teach the child and parent about creating healthy meals. The pair takes home a folder that contains many valuable nutrition resources for them to share with their family.

Instructor Victoria Meheut is a working pastry chef with a passion for nutrition.  With over 9 year experience in the food service and a Bachelors of Science degree in Food and Nutrition, her goal is to give parents the resources for choosing healthy options to feed their children and families.  Victoria Meheut has joined the Chef’s Move to Schools program in order to take part in a Food Revolution and diminish childhood obesity and diabetes.
