Dear Voters:

There has been trouble at the polls statewide today as voters intending only to vote for a Democratic candidate in the state legislative district are receiving a disturbing message from the automated voting machines: “Your vote has not been casted.”

This “safety” measure, the result of the Ken Bennett Secretary of State’s office, has led voters to think that their vote doesn’t even count. These votes are being counted and we ask our supporters to get a receipt of their ballot in such instances to ensure that your vote was counted. Unfortunately, this is leading to some voters selecting a second candidate in the race that they are not supporting. This has happened statewide and will likely result in close losses in numerous statewide races.

In Lindsay’s race, we have already received dozens of complaints to the recorder’s office. However, make no mistake, this was not an accident. This is a blatant attempt to disenfranchise voters across Arizona.

So please get and keep your receipt. I plan, seperately from Lindsay’s campaign, to take this matter up in the court system if any of the state legislature races fall within less than 500 votes. I also have a request for our supporters.

Call your newspaper, call your radio stations, and call the television stations and let them know what has occurred here. This is a travesty of the electoral system if there has ever been one and we can not stand by idly and watch it happen. I also call on our supporters to donate a couple hours of your day at the local party and turn the tide. I think we are still going to win Lindsay’s race, but as I said this morning… you can’t take anything for granted in LD 1 and in Arizona as a Democrat.

It is time to show them that this is unacceptable and we will show them it at the polls.
