Sedona AZ (September 13, 2012) – SedonaEye.com star Paws Up columnist Harley McGuire would like for you to know that the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Section consists of seven animal control officers and one supervisor. This section is responsible for responding to the public’s request for animal control assistance in communities, including animal cruelty complaints, rabies control, enforcing the county leash law and licensing requirements, as well as providing public education concerning animals.
Harley McGuire knows the public joins him in saying, “Here’s a Paws Up! to all animal control officers for helping rescue and save lives! My pals and I truly appreciate the job that you do!”
Harley McGuire also wants everyone to know that if his pals and buddies are impounded by the Yavapai County Animal Control, they are taken to either one of two locations:
Yavapai Humane Society, 1625 Sundog Ranch Road, Prescott Arizona (928-445-2666) or Verde Valley Humane Society, 1502 West Mingus Ave, Cottonwood Arizona (928-634-7387).
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is a partner in the Animal Cruelty Task Force of Northern Arizona and coordinates with other Northern Arizona law enforcement agencies in the investigation and prevention of animal cruelty.
“I want everyone to keep the Animal Cruelty Hotline number in an easy to find location,” said Harley McGuire emphatically. “Whenever you believe a buddy of mine may need assistance, no matter how unsure, find that number and call the Hotline! You may save a pal’s life, rescue a friend of mine in need, and bring about change for the better in a defenseless animal’s life. My friends cannot dial a phone and ask for help, only you can do that for them. Call the Hotline at 928-771-3595 and be a best friend to my buds and pals. Write me at the SedonaEye.com and I’ll share your helpful story with my readers! You will be an inspiration, a fine example, to others.”
Harley McGuire reminds those wishing to purchase a Yavapai County Dog License must first provide the following documentation from a veterinarian:
- Documentation of current rabies vaccination

Licenses can be purchased at the following locations for a cost of:
- $5.00 for altered animals

RESCUE AND ADOPT DON’T BREED via Facebook
I was in training class today in Phoenix and listening to other animal control officers talk sooo sad one county takes 4 truck loads of dead dogs away a WEEK!!! Please alter your animals I was getting sick thinking about it.
Oh how hateful are the facts of life. People take on animals without a thought that they are a lifetime commitment. Lisa Diacik, your message is heartbreaking. Why, indeed, won’t people alter their animals. So sad.
