Dear Editor: October 28th Edition Newspaper comments

from Callers Carol Shay, Sedona AZ and Pam B. from Clarkdale and Jenny from Jerome and Ed from VOC and Lee from Phoenix and Jim from Prescott Valley and Dan and Margery from Sedona and Nancy from Sedona and Harry from West Sedona and Chris and Chris from Cottonwood–and an anonymous fellow who left a nice message complimenting several writers and stories in the October 28 edition (Mr. Copen earned special kudos as did E.S. Maddock’s “Remember When?” ), plus two callers who left comments about the improved layout, content and or design. Below are a sample of the comments with our appreciation and thanks:

Enjoyed the Jack o Lantern Story written by Miss Class.

I didn’t know about the history of Halloween and enjoyed reading the column.

Paper had much better content than at any time in its years past.

Thanks for not overwhelming us with election pandering.

Friended you on Facebook. Twitter? (Yes, @SedonaTimes)

Appreciated the broad sampling of election notices in the paper with the real content and discussion left on the web site. You did well by both Democrats (I’m one) and Republicans (my daughter). Improved and noticeable change.

We subscribed on line last month and received the paper copy in the mail one day after it was printed. Saw it in the Circle K when getting gas so bought a copy for my friend. He liked it and will subscribe.

It (newspaper) was in Red Rock Coffeehouse this morning and will follow you on Twitter. Readable rag. (We decided that to be a “readable rag” is a compliment. Attitude is everything.)

The Sedona Fire Board was handled fairly by your paper. Thanks for letting the people have their say without putting in your fifty cents. You let the ballot box talk instead of the editorial staff. Never happened before in this town.

Who’s Harley, a parrot or a dog? I’m confused. (Dear Confused: Yes, you are.)

    Dear Confused:

There was a lost parrot named Harley. I’m crossing my toe-claws for it to be safely back in its cage by now. Don’t know for sure cause no one’s told me. Who am I? Four-pawed Harley McGuire, that’s who, and I love answering questions and hope that I was able to clear things up for you so you’re not confused no more. (Mom ain’t here to edit this one.)

    Lovingly,

    Harley McGuire

  2. Mandy, Black Lab says:

Hope that parrot is ok too Harley McGuire. We keep our eye out for him every time we take a walk. Parrots are pretty hardy survivors of the jungle so think our Village will provide lots of safe havens. Sorry to read about one of our own going lost up near Javelina Cantina’s. Keep patrolling out there! We’ll find them both.

  3. J and D in Scottsdale AZ says:

Use to read Sedona Biz for local news but your site offers more and more each day and so we stopped reading it about two months ago or more. Liked reading Florence Rosiellio about the younger ones and Rick Normand is back to stirring up the Sedona kettles. We like the Harlie dog comments and pictures. The print paper was one of the best Sedona Times we received (thank you for sending it to Scottsdale for us) and we still haven’t finished reading and discussing all the stories. Even with lots of ads you still had lots of stories and Mel Copen’s story about Chile gave us a lot to think about and that kind of story was lacking in the old newspaper and in the Phoenix newspapers. We like getting something more than the “other ones” in town. Keep up the good work. People like the paper. (Our vacation home in Sedona must be a lot cooler than down here today.) Fifty cents is a bargain for your newspaper.
