Tracy Dawn Tarlip arrested for drug sales and possession in Arizona

Sedona AZ (February 22, 2013) – On February 19, 2013, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 52-year-old Robert Flood, and 46-year-old Tracy Tarlip, for several drug and weapons related charges following a traffic stop on Arizona State Highway 69 in Poland Junction.

At approximately 9:00 in the evening, a YCSO deputy stopped a four door sedan for an equipment violation, a non-working headlight. A male driver and female front seat passenger, and a dog, occupied the vehicle.

When asked for his license, the driver stated that he did not have it with him and gave his name as William Kaufman, born in 1944. When asked if the vehicle contained any weapons, both the man and woman passenger claimed there were none.

The driver was directed to exit the vehicle and continue the conversation adjacent to the patrol unit. The deputy conducted a computer check with the name Kaufman and the record returned an expired license for a deceased individual.

The driver continued to maintain his name was Kaufman, even though he appeared much younger than the birth date given. It was obvious to the deputy that the man was lying and would need to be detained.

When the deputy attempted to handcuff the man, he pulled away and took a fighting stance. The deputy was able to pin the man against the patrol vehicle, but as the man continued to resist, the deputy drew his Taser and ordered the man to the ground where he eventually was handcuffed.

During a search of the man, the deputy found a meth pipe in his pocket.  Still refusing to identify himself, the deputy then spoke with the woman passenger, who identified herself as Tracy Tarlip, and provided the true name of the vehicle driver’s name as a Ronald Flood.

Tarlip also admitted to having methamphetamine inside her car.

A computer check revealed Ronald Flood had a Maricopa County parole violation warrant which Flood then acknowledged as the motivation for lying about his identity.

Deputies searched the vehicle and found approximately 22 grams of methamphetamine inside a lunch box along with bindles, marijuana, pay and owe drug sales documentation, and a scale. The search also revealed a loaded .45 caliber handgun inside a case on the front passenger floorboard. Deputies also found a pill bottle labeled with Tarlip’s name which contained blue capsules and ecstasy pills.

Animal Control arrived and took possession of Tarlip’s dog as she was arrested.

Flood and Tarlip were eventually booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center on the following charges:

  • Ronald Thomas Flood – Providing False Information, Resisting arrest, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Parole Violation Warrant (MSCO), Transportation of a Dangerous Drugs for Sale, Possession of a Dangerous Drug (ecstasy), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Weapon during a Drug offense, Prohibited Possessor, and Driving on a Suspended License. His bond on all charges, except the parole violation, is set at $250,000. There is no bond on a parole violation charge.
  • Tracy Dawn Tarlip – Transportation of a Dangerous Drug for Sale, Possession of a Dangerous Drug (ecstasy), Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Weapon during a Drug offense, and Prohibit Possessor. During booking, a methamphetamine pipe was recovered from Tarlip’s crotch area. Her bond has been set at $100,000.
