Subject:  SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 23, 2016

TO: SEDONA CITY COUNCIL – March 22, 2016

RE: CITY CONTROL OF RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE REMOVAL

Chances of this additional writing at this late date were slim to none as most likely the possibility of it being read are even more remote.

However, having briefly reviewed the expanded agenda information to be presented at the meeting tomorrow afternoon, 3/23/16 at 3:00 PM, Council Chambers, certain elements are very distressing.

First, it seems quite disingenuous for you to claim concern for saving the earth when conditions in Sedona continue to degenerate on a daily basis. If such a concept were true, you would have long ago obtained fair RFP’s for other service contracts and made more efficient demands on the effectiveness of the service being provided. Case in point: How much has the recent contract with the Chamber of Commerce for “Destination Marketing” contributed to the ever-growing and obvious number of day-trippers that have for years become an increasing problem due to inadequate infrastructure to accommodate the vast numbers.

In fact, that hindrance is the main reason I’’ll not attend tomorrow’’s meeting. In order to get out of my subdivision onto SR179 just for shopping to accommodate needs for the entire Easter weekend, it was necessary for me to do so in the early morning hours and be home by noon. Traffic backup will be prohibitive this Wednesday afternoon to reach City Hall at 3:00 in the afternoon, especially considering this is the week before Easter Sunday.

garbage canThe obvious poor planning with the expansion of Tlaquepaque will exacerbate this already congested situation once completed. This is just one example of an active demonstration of realistically failing to practice what you preach: Conservation and sustainability of resources.

The focus of the witch-hunt in Staff’’s presentation is clearly directed at Taylor Waste for having done such a shameful thing as to notify their customers of the potential change in arrangement of Sedona’’s trash hauling. To put the blame on a company for displaying a competent business practice and then further insinuate it is only their customers opposing the proposal is unfounded and unfair.

Attempting to blame garbage trucks for damaging our roads is absurd. And to further imply that tourists, jeep tours, ATV’s, motor homes, moving and construction trucks do not invade our neighborhoods is simply not true. Garbage trucks, realistically, are among the least intrusive.

And you will save us money? Try to convince those of us within the estimated 85% who presently recycle that we will not be paying more for dragging out two bins weekly or biweekly, especially when we currently have efficient means to either support Sedona Recycles with assistance from their volunteers or in person.

Have you considered the effort it takes for those of us with dual hip replacements or other physical nuisances to drag one bin out and in every week let alone the added effort to do so with two?

What about those who leave Sedona for three or four months during the summer to vacation with families who will be denied the fairness of dropping the service during that period of time after the city takes over controlling garbage hauling? And no opt-out options?

But, of course, these questions were all raised during the public meetings and the answers remain void.

Some of us will never have need for bulk hauling, which is presently available through private enterprises on a needs basis.

Clearly it is your determination to force this on us, but kindly refrain from rationalizing and making inaccurate assumptions that objections are solely the result of the letters from Chris Taylor and being made by the customers of Taylor Waste. Going on record for not the first time here, it makes no difference to me who it is would get the bid. Denying the option to have a choice, the same as I had with getting service to my automobile this week, is insulting if not potentially damaging.

This has nothing to do with being “uneducated” or “ignorant” because we do not know the facts. Wake up. We see the writing on the wall. You are not practicing what you attempt to preach when you continue to approve for the demise and living conditions in Sedona, for both residents and tourists.

It obviously doesn’t matter to you how many residents move out of Sedona since you do little if anything to enhance our quality of life. I will no longer walk my dog in our neighborhood because of the filthy, ugly, almost dangerous patched roads, and heavy tourist traffic –- yes – within the neighborhood. No blame on garbage trucks is justifiable for this. Where is your great concern for protecting the environment? Selective and self-serving clearly is the answer to that.

Realizing none of this will make a difference because of your determination to manipulate the results of your public outreach to suit your desires, it really is sad that you are so insensitive and determined to take matters into your own hands with little to no regard for those of us paying the price in more ways than one. And by the way, weren’t you elected to represent our preferences even when they were not in sync with your own?

You will be making a decision affecting the lives of thousands of people for years to come such as was set in motion by a previous council when they entered into multiple year service contracts with yet to be determined valid statistics on the wisdom of those decisions. Of course this time when you opt to move forward it will be only $75,000 of public money –for something again we do not wish to have. But that will also be disputed by the use of your magical manipulative methods which are really far more transparent than you must realize.

Your choice will be either to serve the will of the people – and not the will determined by voodoo methods –or by using the option at your discretion of abuse of power – as in “this is what I think is best for the community.”

Sedona roads are designed for slow scenic views and sharing the road drives and maintenance caused by rushing waters, shifting ground, and mountainous terrain contribute to transportation issues.

Sedona roads are designed for slow scenic views and sharing the road drives and maintenance caused by rushing waters, shifting ground, and mountainous terrain contribute to transportation issues.

As time goes on and remembering how much my late husband loved Sedona, the one thing for which I’’m grateful is he isn’’t here to witness the demise of what we struggled so long and hard for – to make a living and remain here for so many years. To work for and promote the Chamber of Commerce, Library, Humane Society, Elks Club – and now for what? Everything we left big cities for has now consumed our once small town for powerful big city politics that will tell us what’’s best for us? Chuck, my dear husband, you missed only heartache by not living long enough to retire here.

With profound sadness that it became necessary to convey this, but the upside is I’’m in no position to play God and make choices for a bunch of stupid, ignorant people that can no longer think for themselves. How lucky for you to have that option and the arrogance of power to exercise it. Good luck and even better luck to future city councils that will inherent the ongoing questionable decisions being made in Sedona on a daily basis.

Need proof? Take a drive around town.

  2. Steve segner says:

Great city meeting today, not one of you complainers showed up! You are all talk or should I sat all type. You could have come to the meeting, you could have made statements that the city could use I’n it’rfp, you could have let them know your thoughts….. What you really are is just Lazy
    Ss

  3. An Opinion says:

The stink from today’s special council meeting exceeds putrid rat stench. What’s really going on?

Two hours of garble-de-goo BS about a confusing system with unknown charges for this, that, and whatever. Then the coup de gras was the option to opt out which to local high profile Steve Segner was a stipulation to watch out for? Very interesting indeed.

At earlier meetings Assistant City Manager Karen Daines has been explicit that it would take 5,000 subscribers to make this work. And now the option to opt out is on the table? Something is not right.

It appears we are dealing with possibly not-so-masterful con artists. But the fact is that if not stopped they can pull this off.

Our city attorney sat in silence as the city manager spoke in support of anything his masters, the City Council including the questionable one-term Mayor Sandy Moriarty, now running unopposed for term #2, suggested. New kids on the block doing their job no matter what the cost to voting residents as long as they get their paycheck and benefits?

This leaves room to wonder just why Chief of Police Ray Cota terminated his employment so abruptly. Why would anyone with moral integrity remain as an employee of this seemingly corrupt operation that is completely and totally ruining Sedona? One might compare it to competing with the ongoing winds that continue to add fuel to the realistic danger of rabid wild fires.

Which source with be the first to destroy Sedona?

  4. Another Silent Voice says:

Segner asks why those objecting to the take-over didn’t show up? And why would they since at other public meetings they’ve been subjected to ho-hum reception and at times humiliation, especially by the likes of that Oak Creek Canyon guy. And why would anyone run for city council that wasn’t hand-picked like they did with the new guy, Tom Lamkin (although he, too, almost had his ears boxed by the Mayor as did others on the council for talking too much).

The writing’s on the wall, folks. Unless a Referendum is waiting in the background after this con job is consummated we will remain at their mercy, silenced and pawns for their amusement. But of course as predicted the final decision here looks like it won’t be made until many residents have taken leave of Sedona for the summer months and won’t be around to challenge the decision should it not to be to their liking.

Oh yea, Segner suggested the city contract for garbage service includes billing because the city’s lousy at that job. But he doesn’t get it. If they did that it would strap their hands from manipulating the monthly bills to the sucker residents that were dumb enough to vote them in.

  5. Ron says:

The game is rigged. We did speak up and the city council doesn’t give a sh-t. All they care about is corporations, developers and tourists. They don’t care about the residents. This is why they show us time and time again that those of you (steve segner) that live outside the city limits along with the special interest groups like the Chamber and Main street are the only ones that matter.
But if you listened to Karen Daines budget report she clearly states that every delivery to your home gets the city imposed SALES tax then why do both these groups take credit for ALLLL sale tax collected?????

  6. Alarmed says:

More slime from Steve Segner. The City Council dictators have already spent almost $30,000 to hear from residents and ignore their requests to butt out. Yesterday’s meeting was about developing a Request for Proposals document to solicit private haulers.

Obnoxious, malicious ss doesn’t even live in Sedona. His urging the Council to hold fast on the opt-out option for part-time residents is a discriminatory idea and will result in higher monthly bills.

  7. Robert O says:

    @ Steve Segner

Wow, not one of them showed up??? I thought for sure that they would dominate the whole meeting.

See, I’d rather wait to see what the whole debacle looks like before Bi-ch about it. Who know, I may save a buck and not have to deal with storing my recycles in the house for 2 weeks. I understand that we may not have to deal with 4 trucks on the road each week doing the exact service.

Pay no attention to these rants from the above….there the same crazy person using different names to post…

Really crazy and sick…..you are correct Steve S, show up at the council meeting and state your concern instead spewing you crazy crazy venom here….really sick

  9. Dan G. says:

The confusion this issue has turned into is mind boggling. What once were known as garbage cans are now carts, containers, bins, and other interchangeable terms. And will we get one or two? And the different sizes – that alone will alter costs and confuse monthly billing.

How much will it cost for an individual to sort recycles at curbside, as Mayor Moriarty is pushing for? What about idling trucks and traffic congestion as trash is being hand-picked?

Will the city purchase their own bins, containers, carts, cans or whatever? If the city buys their own “carts” with city logos, will that also be the case with the trucks? And, in fact, will the city consider buying the trucks as well? In other words, the city will be in competition with free enterprise when they are constantly harping about economic development and expansion in Sedona. (another assignment for the guru-ess Jennifer Wesselhoff).

This is nuts! And the initial pitch was city control of garbage hauling will save money? How about the increased need for backdoor service when two carts are simply too much for some customers to handle? And the confusion about opt out? Do not discriminate! (as if that isn’t already occurring with selective application to primarily single family residential with restrictions on multi-units, hotels, apartments, etc. – and especially businesses)

The allotment of $75,000 for this investigation was the beginning of the end and they will spend it all, knowing the intent was to approve the program in the first place.

A better suggestion might be to identify by color code the “carts” and name them individually after the council members that approve of dumping their garbage on the residents of Sedona – with emphasis on “Residents” of incorporated Sedona.

  10. Darryl Z says:

I would have liked to have gone to the meeting, but they are always in the middle of my work schedule. Only the retired can afford to go to City Council meetings, I’m sure.
But with short-term rentals becoming legal, I will soon be able to rent out my garage apartment and quit my extra jobs and just work 4 days a week. I am looking forward to spending more time with the kids and having money enough to make ends meet.
That said, I am so disappointed in the City Council for approving the Western Gateway. Everyone knows they broke a sacred promise in doing so — that land was a gift! Forest Service land (for everyone’s use) greedily sold to Tennyson and the Cultural Park destroyed. That land was PROMISED to be for non-profit only into perpetuity. This is exactly the reason so many people are FOR the horrible idea of turning this area into a National Monument — our city government can’t be trusted! Greed, corruption, and more greed rule the day.
The garbage is just one straw. Will it be the one to break the camel’s back? We can only hope! DZ

  12. Eddie S. Maddock says:

Sorry, West Sedona resident, but I cannot take credit for comments made by “Alarmed” and “Another silent voice.”

The comment I made under “Opinion” clearly identified the source, Eddie S. Maddock, at the conclusion of the post. Or were you so angry you didn’t read that far?

Steve Segner has enough courage of his convictions to reveal his true identity. And even though I may not agree with Mr. Segner’s position on all issues, he deserves credit for not hiding behind the mask of anonymity.

And so it leaves one to wonder why, as you appear to be one of his avid supporters, you wouldn’t gladly take a page from his book and lend credibility to your own input by proudly stepping out of the shadows. Or is it you so enjoy having your phony moniker dominating the lineup on Sedona Eye’s list of the ten most current comments?

Pity you are so starved for attention. Again “my opinion.”

  13. Robert O says:

    @ Steve Segner

Sorry to disagree with you on this one, I’m counting 2 to 4.

  14. West Sedona Resident says:

    ESM

What’s the matter ESM….. You feel bad about yourself that your one of the people SS was talking about….you know. ALL TALK and NO SHOW… Just like the other 8-10 complainers here on SE

  15. Jessica says:

Those of us that benefit from taxpayers funding via the city of sedona know how things roll. If you play the game, it doesn’t matter where you live, if you contribute to tax base or not. It is all about funneling money to our friends. Even though sedona is a majority of old farts we don’t care about them. You voted us in.
We are worried about to many of the flatlanders having a voice. This is why we all read sedonaeye. We don’t want the truth to come out. Look at our budget and all our freinds we fund via the city. Sedona Recycles is the next group to be funded.

  16. Larry A says:

    Dan G. good post.

And how do we know West Sedona resident and Steve Segner aren’t one and the same?

It’s common for people to accuse others of doing exactly what they, themselves, are actively engaged in.

  19. They Don't Get It says:

Hey, Maddock, these brain-dead idiots that continue to try to get your goat create the best case scenario for you. The true message they are sending with their inane comments is that you continue to bug them be it with factual reports or your personal opinions. And the angrier they get, the more careless and stupid are their remarks.

Keep up the good work. Always get a laugh out of the feedback from idiots but the real issues in Sedona remain very concerning. We are happy to say we are no longer residents there and whenever we have rare misgivings of the decision to relocate all we need to do is review the latest ludicrous decisions that continue to ruin the place.

A Western Gateway, outrageous continuation of exorbitant funding to the chamber of commerce, paying people to use a city facility (Red Earth Theater, maybe the dumbest of all), and now this fiasco with garbage collection? Just think how far ahead, for many reasons, they would be if the pooped-canned this nonsense and at least had a legitimate city operated visitors center since they obviously consider it a must but can’t afford it? Go figure.

    From: voices from the past.

  20. steve Segner says:

    Suppress?

Todays, Red Rock news city budget is lower, money in the bank and all of JJ predictions of doom never came about, we came through the depression is better shape the before…….Good city governance great city council..
You say we get money from the city, I get no money, WRS gets no money and the chamber is a vendor for the city.
Please if I am wrong, please show us al!,l I always ask for proof and all you ever do is get nasty, please show when I have gotten any money from the city.
You are just a “T” party TRUMP you just make statements knowing they are not true, and when asked to show the proof you say “They are trying to suppress you”
    ss

  21. incorporation says:

The city of Sedona is an incorporated area. That footprint is what their mission and goals should be based on. The community plan should read incorporated community plan as the special interest and council persons feel they can use taxpayers money to gift the region.
The chamber is a private membership group and Steve Segner is spokeman for that that special interest group an affinity group Sedona lodging which is a regional sub group of the chamber. They get MILLIONS from the city. Up to 15-16 million directly from city funding that should have been used on infrastructure.
Anyone receiving any benefits from municipality funding should never be place in any position to control, especially when they receive direct or indirect funding. The incorporation- city is exclusive. Any time anyone or thing is gifted monies that are not inside that footprint, they create harm. The chamber is a majority of OUTSIDE city businesses. Every penny gifted to them is hurting those within the incorporated area.
Suppress is a great word and that is exactly what is happening here. City council does not like nor do they respect the residents. They show it time and time again. Just listen to all of them. I,I,I and then SS, chamber, main street claim to take credit for Sedona, while they are the minority. My goodness what would we do without them?
Don’t believe me? Look up the numbers. How many in city businesses are chamber members? Less than 10%, The council represents less than .0008% of you. That is the truth. You all are feed a web of lies by SS. Nothing is based on transparent audited neutral numbers. It a web of lies……. BS
They should be ashamed of how they treat the people.
Steve you continue to prove you are a low lifer. Calling people T party trump? So far from the truth. You bring shame IMO to the area. Come on call some more names to anyone that does not go along with your agenda.

Thank you Sedona Eye, Ms. Maddock, and all those trail blazers willing to stand up for integrity and fairness for the people.

The incorporated city needs to go back to basics. Cut off all groups that are not exclusive for the city. Remember the lies that you are being told the council is less than 0.0008%, main street less than 1% of businesses, chamber may be lucky if the hit 10% of in-city businesses.

  22. Jess Lookin says:

” Not sure if the guy threatening me and demanding money is a common criminal, or just works for the government. ”

Karma will get you Sedona parasites. It always does.

  23. What's the Deal? says:

So Steve Segner owns a business in Sedona. His home is in Oak Creek Canyon, outside city limits, but he uses his business address as a residence in order to have voting privileges in the City of Sedona elections. Even so, he will not be impacted by the proposed city take-over of garbage hauling. So why doesn’t he shut up?

Unless each and every pertinent entity within Sedona City Limits is subject to the proposed policy, we will still have the potential of three legitimate companies in the business of removing garbage which means all service trucks will still be traveling on Sedona streets.

Will residences with legitimate businesses be subject to being denied their right to choose? Segner’s opportunity to select the garbage company of his choice will not be affected. Seems this is extremely biased and unfair treatment unless the policy will be city-wide, including Mr. Segner’s bed and breakfast (or whatever it is) and especially because he uses that address as a means to infiltrate city government.

And this city council thinks he’s the Supreme Being? And why is that? Because not only does he tell them he is but because he managed to provide substantial financial support to get them elected?

Seems anyone that won’t be subject to the proposed rip-off shouldn’t be allowed to have an opinion, one way or the other, on this matter.

  24. West sedona resident says:

    @jess Lookin

Karma got you I guess ….

Probally why you were “let go” from your government job

Your rt.. Karma is a (deleted by editor). JS

  25. steve Segner says:

So why doest’t he shut up?
    1. well I have two homes in Sedona.
    2. Thousands of municipalities in America have one trash company and under state law (Arizona) it gives the power to local government.
    3. There is no “right to choose” in Arizona when it come to trash.
    4. You say,”Seems this is extremely biased and unfair treatment”
what if it comes in cheaper and does a better job of recycling?
    5. I do not infiltrate city government I go to meetings do you?
and by the way “incorporation says:”
“They get MILLIONS from the city. Up to 15-16 million directly from city funding ?????where in the world did you get this?
We all know you just make this stuff up please, show us the source of you data? Please
I will be looking for your post.
Remember I have the real numbers so be careful.

  26. Al S says:

I am wondering the same. Who in the h—- does Steve think he is? We have the numbers and sedona been looted by SS, chamber, main street, film fest and all the other takers like steve. When was it a city job to pay these a holes? I was just looking and we given 2.5 million to the takers. this year alone

We got your number 1-800 scam by steve.

I Agree with incorporation time has come to cut off these groups. Blood suckers!

  27. @steve Segner says:

    3. There is no “right to choose” in Arizona when it come to trash.

Up to now it’s been an option in Sedona. Also for those of us to opt out when we go on vacation. Your comment at the meeting about the council being careful with that opt out option because people still have grass cuttings etc. that need to be removed during their absence, really? How many lawns are there in Sedona? And as a matter of fact when I have my yard work done the gardener pays extra to haul away the cuttings – which is how I plan to dispose of my garbage in the future.

It’s refreshing to know you have the real numbers. Why aren’t you running for Pres. on the Democratic ticket then? The Bern might enjoy the competition when Hillary is locked up in jail.

  28. Noise on the block says:

Well the once a week garbage truck dance on my block happened once again over a 3 hr time span this morning……. 4 different haulers all doing the same task…

Stupidest thing I’ve ever seen….. What a waste of energy not to mention the noise and road wear ….BTW. For those that mention it… There are no ATVs or 18 wheelers tearing it up on most secondary roads in sedona….just 3-4 garbage trucks once a week…
It will be good having one company doing the work that now takes 4..

  29. steve Segner says:

    Noise on the block says:
It will be good having one company doing the work that now takes 4..

yes, I have talked to a lot of people saying the same thing,
One truck, better pricing, better recycling, better for the community , some people are just self centered and the $ is everything.
    ss

  30. E. Maddock says:

My suggestion to “Noise on the block.”

Drop around Morgan Road off of SR179 from sunrise to sunset any day of the week, including inclement weather, if your want proof of the lunacy of your statement. “There are no ATVs or 18 wheelers tearing it up on most secondary roads in sedona….”

Interesting too since we didn’t have any garbage trucks today, our usual pickup day. Because of the holiday it’s been delayed a day. However, the construction trucks working on a new house on Lewis Way did not take a day off.

And when this city contracts for curb-side sorting of recyclables, please don’t complain about trucks idling endlessly.

Point being: Be careful what you wish for.

  31. rick smucker says:

One thing that Steve Segner is correct about and there aren’t many, is that the City is horrible at administrating the collection of the revenue. Steve goes on to say that the trash collection administration should stay in the hands of the trash co. Well done Steve. Now have another can of progresso on me ministrone!!!

  32. Alarmed says:

There’s no money going into the bank by way of next fiscal year’s budget. Steve Segner is making stuff up again. The City paid off $9.3 million in old bond debt and acquired $9.3 million in new bond debt through a refi. The “Bond deal drops budget 27%” article in last Friday’s Red Rock News clearly states: “While the [City] budget decreased, the overall expenditures increased by 17% from $16.08 million to $18.83 million.” A 17% increase is approximately 15% more than the 2015 CPI Index increase. Got that Steve?

As Al S correctly commented, Sedona’s been looted by SS, Chamber, Main Street, Film Fest and all the other takers.

  33. Lynn & Mike says:

Our neighborhood likes each other and we pass along tips on best deals for gas and garbage meaning we use pretty much the same company for each one and change as we find best deals annually or semi annually. Flame and Patriot have been this years winners and we feel sorry for the other few who care less to change but they can afford whatever they want so dont bother to change and that’s their right. The city is interfering with competition which has kept our prices low and service excellent. We recycle through Patriot pick up and know from Sedona Recyles friend they don’t like competition with their new trucks and equipment investments.

Two of us share cans because most of us own here as second or third homes. Our neighbors like each other!

We don’t like meddling in our finances from anybody.

  34. Noise on the block says:

    @E Maddock

“Trucks idling endlessly for curbside pickup”

I’ll take one truck over four anyday…

No ATV’s on my block…..sorry for you…Seems like one garbage hauler will be a blessing for you…..

  35. @Noise on the block says:

How little you know unless you play dodge-em day in and day out with caravans of ATV and jeep rentals. Pink Jeep Tours in general are respectful to our subdivision. But the rental folks don’t give a hoot about racing through here, including side streets. Unless you have walked the walk, which you admit you haven’t, your words are wasted.

By noon today the garbage haulers will have completed their weekly assignment and it’s over with. Not so with off road vehicles, including dirt bikes.

But since you seem to be such an authority, why is it the City Council completely ignores the result of their very costly telephone survey which clearly indicated the majority of those responding preferred the present system?

Whist Canadians have a reputation for Tolerance, we’re the same as everyone and all beings on this tiny planet. Some not so tolerant, some more, some average. Like Americans we’ve met; like Europeans, like Africans, like the Middle East and Asia, like South Americans and others. It’s a nice label, but it’s simplistic and it’s stereotypical.

We thought you were in the midst of smog; a kind and lovely lady informed us it as smoke from a fire north of Sedona, but we had no reference. We would have left thinking smog was your typical weather; thank you lovely lady who told us about this site and the facts of the weather systems.

We have learned from many residents that the city has changed dramatically and we saw photos to indicate it. We may return in a decade or two as we have many places to visit on our bucket lists, each different. Thank you for being so welcoming and thank you for clarifying the smog issue.

  39. Question says:

Has anyone noticed how WSR and Steve Segner act just like Donald Trump? Any time you disagree with them they call that person names…….. just sayin

  40. Steve segner says:

. Why name. I just ask you for the facts Still waiting for the facts on the 15,000,000 the chamber gets ormsteve is not a resident of Sedona or Sedona is not a tourist town, or or or you get the idea no name calling
    Ss

  41. Answer to your Question says:

Yes I have noticed. It’s no different than when all of you (or just a few of you under different names) are disagreed with, the BS comes out to play.

Hay DJV, time to find a new place to bake those cookies and
    wedding cakes.

  42. Jess lookin says:

Whoops I hijacked WSR handle again..I’m very sick since I’ve been let go from my government job…Come on med’s do your trick to help me blot out what my sick world has becomeAhhhh. There we goJS

  43. West sedona resident says:

    @ESM

Perhaps you fighting the WRONG fight..

    You frequently do…..

  44. Watch the posts says:

If you pay attention to to posts you can tell Steve, SS, Wsr, and other random names are all the same person.

  45. GET THIS says:

Beware City Hall vulturism under its trash and recycling plan.

$47,950 City Manager’s Office; $19,440 Human Resources; $406,520 Financial Services; $87,577.80 Information Technology; $21,090 City Attorney’s Office; $12,650 City Clerk’s Office; etc., are listed as Wastewater Fund Expenditures in next fiscal year’s Tentative Budget.

The City’s trash plan will see increased services many residents don’t want and some can ill afford. And probably just as with the Wastewater Fund, our trash bills will see City departmental charges when the time is ripe.

Sedona residents may be charged a ridiculous amount eventually.

  46. West Sedona Resident says:

    @Get This

If your so frigging smart regarding Sedona city budget why don’t you run for council and actually DO SOMETHING but complain… I mean you can’t even take time out from your ranting on SE to attend a council meeting…

I call BS…..BSAnd the beat hoes on

  47. ESM says:

Thank you, thank you “WSR.” If YOU believe I’m fighting the WRONG fight then I’m greatly relieved since all YOU appear to stand for is tax, spend, socialism, over-development, NO consideration for safety (based on increased traffic jam at Tlaquepaque as ONE example). And free enterprise? You obviously don’t understand the concept.

Sorry it took me this long to respond to a comment that was so uplifting. However, another event was even more important which is really none of your business. (But it was, indeed, a happy occasion.)

Rant on and continue your own battle for the ruination of Sedona. At the rate you and your cohorts are going it won’t take much longer.

Yep, if you disagree with the battles I pick then they MUST be right.

  48. TomZ says:

If you want to see ridiculous, take a look at all the padding in all the City of Sedona budget. They are spend all they can of your money.

Sedona Fire Department is the same, I saw a Battalion Chief truck today with a fancy set of aftermarket wheels. I’m sure the Chief paid for them himself. A necessary expense?

They can’t ask for more if they don’t spend all they have and more now.

  49. West Sedona resident says:

    @ESM

Oh if you are ALL for free enterprise Stop whining about the ATV’s roaring up your block….

  50. Jess lookin says:

Oh darn! Why didn’t someone tell me that we have an election coming up. They just came out with the list of who’s running AND I WASN’T ON IT! I guess I missed the deadline.

I know that I’m the smartest person in any room and I really wanted to show everyone how smart I am. I really wanted to prove myself to you all (or few) on this site. I guess I missed out. But wait, there’s another one in 2 years.
