State of Arizona Honors Folksville USA

Folksville USA honored by AZ House of Representatives for youth program

Folksville USA honored by AZ House of Representatives for  its BagReadyJobs youth program

Sedona AZ (December 7, 2013) – The Arizona House of Representatives has honored Folksville USA, the virtual town where citizens park their politics at the curb of civic responsibility, and its BagReadyJobs program. The State House recognition has asked Arizona communities, businesses and media to support Folksville USA anti litter campaigns and its youth teaching, learning and funding initiative. The Folksville USA youth initiative allows individuals and groups, clubs and organizations whether private or public, to self-fund through trash for cash and recycling efforts.

Among the residents recognized are Pat McQuade, Beth Cady, Diane Gallagher, Eloise Baldauf, Rick Baldauf, Valli Moore, Greg Penrod, Mal Otterson, Ed Helgeson, Karen Chamberlain, Gary Chamberlain, Connie Morgan, Jim Jean and Carole Lamb-Jean, plus the many others who have made Folksville USA a successful volunteer organization in the challenge to keep America and Arizona beautiful.

Legislative District 1 Representative and Speaker of the House Andy Tobin sponsored the Folksville USA and BagReadyJobs recognition. For more information about Folksville USA and its BagReadyJobs program and how to earn trash for cash, contact FolksvilleUSA@gmail.com.

  1. Cub Scouts Pack 330 were presented with individual Certificates of Appreciation by Supervisor Jack Smith during a private ceremony. Cub Scouts Pack 330’s dedication to our community was displayed on September 15, 2013, at Castle Court Park. The Scouts spent their day cleaning up large rocks and debris at the Park which has helped tremendously in reducing the damage to the Yavapai County Mowers and equipment as well as beautifying the park.

Your words speak volumes. Finally appropriate acknowledge has been extended for a tremendous community service for which everyone benefits. Good, good.:-)

  4. To All,

    Thanks for the comments!

This effort will only be carried forward with the help of new participants, anti-littering messages and community support ….. there is something for everyone to do!

What if the Folksville USA “America the Beautiful & BagReadyJobs” concept and Keep Sedona Beautiful KSB combined their efforts to increase education, awareness and participation in the school systems and student participation?

Do our youth and many adults remember the “broken window theory” that we at Folksville USA call the “Broken Highway Theory”? Both of these theories effect the economics of a community.

Can anyone tell me where any anti-littering messages are being regularly taught in the local school system?

The FVUSA 2014 goal is to capture stories about all youth groups that have their “America the Beautiful” stories printed in our local media. FVUSA will send these stories to other media organizations locally and nationally when permitted to do so.

It would be nice to know more about Cub Scout Pack 330, could their story be made available to the SedonaEyE.com?

Photos are worth 1,000’s of words.

  7. Dear Speaker Andy Tobin,

“Better late than never” as the saying goes, please accept my apology.

I wish to thank you and the Arizona House of Representatives for the recognition of our efforts.

I still remember your phone call several years ago and asking how you could assist us with our efforts. Since your phone call was unsolicited, it meant a lot.

It is our hope that all political leaders will reach out to the Adopt-A-Highway groups and advocates that pick up other folks trash in an effort to improve the image and economy of Arizona so they feel appreciated.

You have been very generous with your time and energy in keeping informed as to our group effort.
