Sedona Sustainability Commission Members

Sedona AZ (December 16, 2010) – The Sedona City Council believes that sustainability is an issue of great importance to the City and recently appointed Brent Bitz, Jeff Heidt, Sarah Irani, Meghan Kincheloe, Marlene Rayner, Charlie Schudson, Ernie Strauch, Kristopher Spector and William Welter to the newly formed Sustainability Commission. The new Commissioners represent a diverse cross-representation of the community, bringing various degrees of experience, knowledge, perspectives and talent to the table.

The Commission acts as an advisory body to City Council and is charged with the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Outreach and education programs that inform, engage, and promote sustainable practices
  • Review and propose sustainability related policies
  • Evaluate and make recommendations to Council regarding existing and potential new regulations, incentive programs and policy documents to further the goal of sustainability
  • Advise on policy matters related to sustainable practices including energy, air quality, water, waste composting and reuse, recycling, green infrastructure (parks, open space, agriculture/food supply), building codes and building design, transportation (transit, bike, pedestrian, vehicle) and businesses that produce sustainable products and services and eco-tourism
  • Other related issues that directly affect sustainability efforts considered by Council
  • Advise Council on possible partnerships to implement citywide and regional sustainability programs.
