Sedona SR 89A Lighting Installation Scheduled

Sedona AZ (February 23, 2012) – The City of Sedona and Arizona Department of Transportation controversial lighting  installation and roadway construction will begin Monday, February 27, 2012. Traffic restrictions will be implemented between Dry Creek Road to Airport Road along the City’s 89A west corridor until project completion in summer 2012.

The $4.3 million project will include a new traffic signal at Andante Drive and more than three miles of roadway repaving from Arroyo Piñon Drive to just west of State Route 179.

Initial work will involve placement of underground electric lines beginning at Dry Creek Road and will require moving lane restrictions on Arizona SR 89A from 6 AM until 6 PM weekdays. The project is scheduled for completion by late summer 2012.

Approximately 1,500 feet of the eastbound curb lane of SR 89A will be restricted to provide a safe work zone. The lane restriction will start at Dry Creek Road and move east as construction progresses. Restrictions will be removed at the end of each work day at 6 PM and access to businesses will remain open throughout the project area.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
