Sedona Museum Hosts Thompson Family

Sedona Heritage Museum

Sedona AZ (February 26, 2012) –  The Sedona Heritage Museum in Jordan Historical Park will host a mini-family reunion of the descendants of Jim and Maggie Thompson on Saturday, March 3, 2012. This public reunion is intended as an opportunity for area residents and guests to meet the Thompson relations, ask questions, and hear family stories from noon to 2 PM after the Sedona Main Street Program’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Arriving in 1876, Jim Thompson was Oak Creek Canyons first permanent white settler. He married Maggie James and together raised nine children at their Indian Gardens ranch. The Thompson family made many contributions to Sedona area life during its first 100 years including the 100 Thompson descendants expected to attend the Museum reunion. Each Thompson family member will wear a large button identifying their relationship to ancestors Jim and Maggie and on display will be Thompson family historic photographs and a family tree (genealogical chart).

Prior to the Museum ‘Meet and Greet’, the Thompson family will act as Grand Marshals in the Sedona St. Patrick‘s Day parade. Co-hosts of this special public opportunity to interact with Oak Creek Canyon’s “First Family” are the Sedona Main Street Program and the City of Sedona.
