Sedona Fire District Responds to Multiple Brush Fires

sedona fire district headerSedona AZ (February 25, 2016) – Within a ninety minute period on February 22, 2016, the Sedona Fire District (SFD) emergency crews responded to reports of multiple brush fires along north State Route 89A in Oak Creek Canyon and within the City of Sedona limits near Doodlebug Road.

The initial call came in at approximately 7:30 in the evening and was followed by calls at 8:30 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. The Sedona Fire Department crews found three fires in Oak Creek Canyon and one in the city. One of the fires in Oak Creek Canyon was quickly suppressed by SFD personnel while it was relatively small. The Doodlebug area fire was located near homes and was quickly contained and extinguished. All other fires were out upon SFD arrival on scene.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety, Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, Sedona Police Department and the Sedona Fire District all responded to manage the incidents. The fires are currently under investigation by these agencies and the U.S. Forest Service.

    First responders always #1 in our book. Enjoy this site. A lively little town down there. We visited an afternoon yr ago on drive to son’s ASU Tempe graduation. Saw results fires and it was bad terrain to fight.
