2013 SR89A Transit Shelter Project – Advertisement for Bids – 2013 SR89A Transit Shelter Project

Sealed bids for the construction of the 2013 SR89A Transit Shelter Project will be received in the Office of the City Engineer/Public Works, located at 104 Roadrunner Drive, Sedona, Arizona, until 2:00 p.m., local time, October 31, 2013.

At that time, bids will be publicly opened and read aloud in the Public Works Department Conference Room. Bidders are invited, but not required, to be present at the bid opening.

There will be a MANDATORY Pre-Bid Conference on October 24, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Public Works Department Conference Room located at 104 Roadrunner Drive, Sedona, Arizona.

Copies of the Contract Documents, including plans and specifications, may be obtained from the Office of the City Engineer/Public Works, 104 Roadrunner Drive, Sedona, AZ. The required deposit per set of plans/specifications is $50.00 or you may click on the following links to download the contract documents. Downloaded documents may not be returned to the City of Sedona for any deposited refund. If plan documents are downloaded, the City will not be responsible for providing up-to-date information through the website or other communication methods.

Register Now for Feng Shui Class

Join Sedona Parks and Recreation on Saturday, November 9, 2013, as we explore Feng Shui: Finding Peace in a Stressful World from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (part one) and 1:30 to 3:30 (part two) including breaks. There is also a 90-minute lunch break.

Part one focuses on what is Feng Shui, its five-element theory and personal numerology emphasizing one’s best directions. The class will teach how to find balance with the elements as well as how to bring prosperity into one’s life.

The second one covers letting go of clutter, placing furniture and artwork through room-by-room Feng Shui tips, and fixing harmful outside energies, plus more. Also covered throughout the day are fun ways to learn about oneself and see the space and one’s life from a new perspective.

The presentation introduces the basics of Feng Shui, an ancient art/science which educates how to bring peace and prosperity into one’s life by learning to harmonize with the elements of nature. Feng Shui is also about changing one’s life by bringing in specific colors, shapes, and visualization techniques. It includes learning about the flow of energy and how it can affect our health and well-being.

Class will be held in the Recreation Room at Posse Grounds Park, 525 Posse Ground Road, Sedona. The class is $20 per person for part one or $30 per person for both parts.

    Very interesting. “MANDATORY pre-bid conference” being called for a “Transit Shelter Project” to include “plans and specifications” for consideration?

    What a novel concept considering the City Council based on their own discretion (complimented by Staff recommendation) just approved a million $$+ contract with the Chamber of Commerce for Destination Marketing minus any such competitive bidding. Also “plans and specifications” remain conspicuous by absence.

    At least we now know some folks at City Hall are actually aware that such a system of competitive bidding actually exists.

  2. CITY OF SEDONA TO PARTICIPATE IN ARIZONA’S 12th ANNUAL CITIES & TOWNS WEEK

    At the October 22, 2013 City Council meeting, Mayor Rob Adams announced that the City of Sedona will join municipalities across the state of Arizona, and take part in the League of Arizona Cities & Towns’ 12th annual Cities & Towns Week from October 20-26, 2013. The entire community of Sedona is encouraged to learn more this week about the services and programs that the City offers to improve the quality of life in our community.

    “Our City employees works around the clock to provide vital services to make Sedona a safe and exceptional place to live, work and play,” said Mayor Adams. “Participating in Cities & Towns Week offers our community an important opportunity to join together with cities and towns across the state to highlight local government’s essential contribution to our citizen’s daily lives.”

  3. Intersection improvements at State Route 89A and 260 in Cottonwood begin this week Minimal impacts expected during work hours. The Arizona Department of Transportation has begun an intersection improvement project to improve the intersection at State Route 89A and State Route 260 in Cottonwood.

    Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and minimal impacts are expected. Crews will also be performing work at night between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.; a single-lane restriction between SR 89A and SR 260 is possible during night work hours.

    Beginning tonight, Wed., Oct. 30, pedestrian traffic through the work zone will not be permitted as the sidewalk will be closed until Nov. 15. The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage.

    The $149,000 improvement project includes an additional right-turn lane from SR 89A onto SR 260, new sidewalk, curb and gutter, landscape enhancement and new signage.

    The project is expected to be completed by the end of November.

  4. Beginning November 1, 2013, work will begin on Airport Road for the continuation of the Oak Creek Water Company Waterline Installation Project. Work is scheduled to take place intermittently from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will continue through the middle of November.

    Traffic restrictions will be in effect. The work zone will require a lane closure and flaggers and traffic control devices will control the flow of traffic safely through the work zone. The work zone is located approximately 850 feet north of the Airport Scenic Overlook.

    Please allow extra time for your daily travels, slow down, and obey all flaggers, traffic control devices and detour routes.

  5. City of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department has moved its water aerobics program indoors for the winter. Ongoing for several years now, this year-round program is available to adults of most physical fitness levels who are interested in adding variety to their workout routines. Water aerobics is a leader in low impact aerobic exercise, allowing the participant to work at their own pace while toning muscles, working range of motion and getting their heart rate moving. New this winter we have added Aqua Zumba to our weekly schedule.

    Beginning Monday, November 11, 2013, participants can enjoy water aerobics and AquaZumba on Monday through Thursday mornings from 9 a.m.to 10 a.m. at the Villas of Sedona indoor swimming pool. Located at 120 Kaloff Place, it is conveniently located for the Sedona community to drive to and attend a great class.

    The class fee is $5 per class, or for your convenience, we offer discounted punch passes. Save 20% by purchasing an $80 pass good for 20-visits, or a $40 pass good for 10-visits. Passes do not expire until the punches are used.
