Sedona 2010 Census Numbers Released

Sedona AZ (March 10 2011)–According to the 2010 U.S. Census numbers released today, the City of Sedona population divided by the two counties of Coconino and Yavapai stands at 10,031. Most of the area’s Coconino county growth was centered in the city of Flagstaff which grew slightly less than 25% since the 2000 U.S. Census. Yavapai County grew slightly more than 25% reporting a 2010 Census population of  211,033 to Coconino’s revised 134,421.

The Census statistics were released to Arizona on March 9 2011. The full set of data will be available via FTP download at http://www2.census.gov/census_2010/01-Redistricting_File–PL_94-171/. The data is posted on the Census Bureau’s new American FactFinder site http://factfinder2.census.gov.

The data includes summaries of population totals, as well as data on race, Hispanic origin and voting age for multiple geographies within the state, such as census blocks, tracts, voting districts, cities, counties and school districts. According to Public Law 94-171, the Census Bureau must provide redistricting data to the 50 states no later than April 1 of the year following the census. As a result, the Census Bureau is delivering the data state-by-state on a flow basis in February and March. All states will receive their data by April 1, 2011.

    Some additional 2010 Arizona Census information:

    An Arizona county reporting a LOSS in population: Greenlee (2010 reported population 8,437) while three Arizona counties grew in the 5-15% range: Graham (population of 37,220), Cochise (population of 131,346), and Navajo (107,449).

    Here is the breakdown of reported 2010 Arizona population distribution by county:

    Since the 2000 Census, Arizona increased by 46% Hispanic and or Latino population and 17% not Hispanic or Latino.

    Almost 12% for the 2010 Arizona Census identified as “some other race” while 3.4% identified with being bi-racial or of more than two races.

    Asians account for 2.8% of those identifying with the Census form option, while 4.6% chose to be identified as American Indian or Native Alaskan. Among other races one might indicate on the 2010 Arizona census form, 4.1% chose to identify as Black and 73% as White.

    the jockeying begins for big park to oust sedona city in its delusions of grandeur by getting its own supervisor^^^^yea righto big park your tourists beat paths to voc & sedona lucks out to get your leftover tourist trickle down~all the april fools live in voc because like we w/IQs know, voc is sedona’s other page springs w/o good wine producing vineyards^^^^voc political knobheads better factor in losses to real estate values & commercial rents^^^
