Sandi Marham Remembered with Tree Planting Ceremony

Sandi Markham

The late Sandra Markham, Prescott AZ

Sedona AZ (June 4, 2015) – On Friday June 12, 2015, at 4:00 in the evening, a tree will be dedicated in honor of Sandra K. Markham (Sandi) at the Yavapai County Courthouse, Prescott, on the East side of the Courthouse plaza. The public is welcome to join Sandi’s family and friends for this dedication and remembrance.

Sandi was in her thirtieth year of working in the Yavapai County Courthouse, serving as Clerk of the Superior Court from May 2011 until she passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2014. Previously, she worked for 26 years as the official Court Reporter for Superior Court Judges James B. Sult, Raymond W. Weaver, Jr., and Robert M. Brutinel, now an Arizona Supreme Court Justice. Sandi was a Court Reporter in California for eight years prior.

Sandi was a leader on a local and state level. She chaired the Arizona Supreme Court’s Arizona Board of Certified Court Reporters for ten years. She served on the Supreme Court’s “Keeping the Record” and “Case Processing Time Standards” Committees, and the Judicial Staff Education Committee. Sandi was active in the schools and community, serving as a Prescott High School Band Booster, on the Prescott PTA board, as Treasurer for the Arizona State PTA, and on the Prescott YMCA Board of Trustees.

Sandi is survived by her husband, Arthur, Yavapai County Justice of the Peace and Prescott Magistrate, and daughters, Erin and Megan.

A deodar cedar tree is being dedicated on the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza to honor Sandi’s devoted public service. This tribute also recognizes her love of family and friends, the outdoors, gardening, and community. Earth taken from her personal rose garden, herb garden, and fairy garden was used in planting the tree. Fourteen red rose bushes surround the tree as vivid reminders of Sandi’s vibrant red hair and personality, and reflective of July 14th, the date Arthur and Sandi were married.

Please join Sandi Markham’s beloved community of family and friends as we say thank you and we will remember you.
