Sedona AZ (September 30, 2014) – Fire managers on the Bradshaw Ranger District are planning to burn Thursday, October 2 through Saturday, October 4, 2014, pending favorable weather conditions. Burning of debris left over from brush-crush thinning projects require moisture in the surrounding vegetation and typically produces much lighter smoke than broadcast burning. Both projects are part of the ongoing fuels reduction work in the Prescott basin.
Black Jack Crush RX – Approximately 58 Acres (T14N, R3W, S33); located on the north side of Iron Springs Road, off Black Jack Spring and Skyline Drive.
Lower Wolf Creek Crush RX – Approximately 198 Acres (T13N, R2W, S33); located on the north side of Wolf Creek Road, south of Prescott.
All prescribed fires activity is dependent on the availability of personnel and equipment, weather, fuels and conditions that minimize smoke impacts as best as possible and approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (www.azdeq.gov).
