Prescott Arizona Attorney Disbarred

Prescott AZ (March 20, 2012)Prescott Arizona attorney Lauren E. Vanpelt has been disbarred after signing a consent agreement with the State Bar of Arizona.

The Presiding Disciplinary Judge of the Arizona Supreme Court considered the consent agreement and ordered Vanpelt’s disbarment, which no longer entitles her to the rights and privileges of a lawyer.

During the State Bar of Arizona’s investigation, Vanpelt was found to have committed substantial violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct. In a 16-count complaint, the State Bar alleged that she had abandoned her practice, failed to appear in court, and used client money, which was held in her trust account, for personal use.

Vanpelt agreed to sign the consent for disbarment in which she acknowledged that she would not contest or defend against the charges. The Presiding Disciplinary Judge of the Arizona Supreme Court issued his final judgment and order, declaring Vanpelt’s disbarment, effective March 15, 2012.

Vanpelt remains subject to the jurisdiction of the court and must comply with the requirements relating to notification of clients and others, and provide and or file all notices and affidavits. She must pay a total of $33,466.66 to thirteen clients and her former landlord. She must also pay costs of the proceedings in this matter to the State Bar of Arizona in the amount of $6,000.
