Pinal County Fair Ready to Provide Non-Stop Entertainment

CASA GRANDE – “Family Fun for Everyone” is the theme of this year’s Pinal County Fair.  Judging by the diversity of entertainment and exhibits, there will be something that will amuse and amaze everyone.

The Pinal County Fair takes place at the Pinal County Fairgrounds and Events Center from March 17 through 21.  The fairgrounds are located at 512 South Eleven Mile Corner Road .  Admission is only $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children ages 6-12 and free for any child under the age of 6.

“I am excited about this year’s fair,” said Connie Lane , Pinal County ’s Parks, Recreation and Fairgrounds Director.  “We’ve been working on this event since the end of last year’s fair with the goal of providing non-stop entertainment and the best value for our fairgoers.  I think we have accomplished that goal.”

In addition to the rides, exhibits and 4-H shows that are the mainstays of every fair, this year’s event will feature something new – a stingray encounter.  No need to go to Sea World to see these creatures of the deep, you can see them at the Pinal County Fair.

Other entertainment includes the ever-popular Kobert’s Amazing World of Birds, the exciting stunts of the Fearless Flores Thrill Show, the nationally known Mitchell Showboat Marionettes along with jugglers, magicians and the Balloon Man.

“We really focused our efforts on bringing in a wide-variety of entertainment options,” Lane said.  “The staff has thought ‘out of the box’ so to speak.  The emphasis is to entertain as wide a group of people as possible.”

That emphasis on entertaining the broadest age group has translated itself to a variety of musical groups that will be performing at this year’s fair.

Six groups will entertain fairgoers.  Each group brings along their own sound from the fifties doo-wop to Latin music.  Concerts are included in the price of admission.

On Wednesday, The Keepsakes will perform a wide variety of doo-wop hits from the fifties and the sixties.  Thursday will see the Fairgrounds turn into a smaller version of Woodstock (without the illegal drugs and makeshift camps) with the sounds of 60s from Summer of Love.  Bring your polo shirts for Friday’s entertainment from Weird Science, an eclectic group that pays tribute to the music of the 80s.  Gear up on Saturday for Life in the Fast Lane – a Reno area band that pays tribute to the Eagles.  Power Drive, a band boasting 10 members who play everything from country to cumbia and salsa will play Sunday afternoon at 1:30 and 3:30.  Phoenix-based Tropicalisimo Apache will spice things up with a Latin flair on Sunday evening.

Main stage musical acts take the stage each night at 7:00 PM with a second show at 9:00 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights with Power Drive playing during the day on Sunday.

“With people trying to get more from their entertainment dollar, this is well worth the price of admission,” Lane exclaimed.  “We have tried to pack as much into this fair as we can.  My staff and I cannot wait for it to start.”

The Pinal County Fair will open its gates on 4:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday.  The gates will open at 10:00 am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  For more information go to – www.pinalcountyfair.com or call 520-866-7650.
