No lives lost on Arizona highways during Thanksgiving holiday

Sedona AZ (November 28, 2018) – The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) is reporting no collision fatalities on state highways patrolled by AZDPS during the 2018 Thanksgiving holiday, from Wednesday evening November 21, through Sunday evening November 25. This success is due to the combined efforts of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Arizona Department of Transportation, AZDPS, and most of all the public.

Below are the fatal collision statistics for Arizona highways during the last five Thanksgiving holiday travel periods:

2014 – 5
2015 – 4
2016 – 3
2017 – 6
2018 – 0

“Every year we strive to have zero highway fatalities during any major holiday weekend. This past Thanksgiving weekend we managed to achieve this goal in large measure through the great work involving the women and men of the Department who patrolled our state highways, the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and the Arizona Department of Transportation. However, the greatest factor in this success was the support of the public who heard the message about traffic safety and drove with due care,” said Col. Frank Milstead, Director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is a state-level law enforcement agency whose mission is to protect human life and property by enforcing state laws, deterring criminal activity and providing vital support to the State of Arizona and its citizens.

I like 0. I noticed lots of cops on road then. It helped keep people from racing on I17. It’s hard to go from no traffic threw the week to crazy Sedona traffic holiday weekends but people can’t go fast and that’s good to save lives.

People need to learn how to drive defensively. Aggressive drivers need to be off our roads. No call for tailgating these days. No call for changing lanes illegally. No call for speeding. No call for unsafe drivers. They’re as bad as drunks and druggies because they’re aggressive and out of personal control. Road ragers need to lose licenses.
