PRESCOTT AZ (June 7, 2012) – In celebration of National Get Outdoors Day, June 9, 2012, the U.S. Forest Service will waive day-use fees associated with recreation sites on the Prescott National Forest. This fee free day will be offered in cooperation with other agencies under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (REA), the National Park Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Bureau of Land Management.
As part of this nationwide event fees will be waived at the following sites:
- Lynx Lake Recreation Area: North Shore, South Shore and Lynx Lake Ruins
- Granite Basin Recreation Area: Cayuse, Wekuvde, Boat Launch, Playa, and Metate
- Thumb Butte Recreation Area
- Alto Pit OHV Recreation Area
- Hayfield Draw OHV Recreation Area
- Mingus Day Use
- Mingus Lake Day Use
Additional fee waiver days planned this year include National Public Lands Day, September 29, 2012, and Veterans Day weekend, November 10-12, 2012.
