Sedona AZ (May 15, 2013)Yavapai County Supervisor A.G. “Chip” Davis presented the Yavapai County Unsung Hero Award to Bob McBride, a Prescott, Arizona, county drug use prevention volunteer.

McBride was nominated by Merilee Fowler with MATFORCE.

Bob, and his now departed dog Maggie, served on the MATFORCE Speakers Bureau spreading the word that “Drugs are for Dummies.” Together the two pals touched the lives of 3,896 area youth at 14 schools throughout the County, reminding schoolchildren and those responsible for their supervision and education about the dangers of experimenting with drugs.

Jeanne Wellins, MATFORCE Projects Coordinator, said, “We remain grateful to Bob and to Maggie for making such a huge commitment to help youth. Their story is a strong reminder to kids that using drugs is not okay.”

The radio show was simultaneously video taped by the Yavapai Broadcasting Company and may be seen on its website.

SedonaEye.com Harley McGuire, Star Pet Columnist, sends a Four Paws Up to the dearly departed Maggie and her family. Maggie will always be remembered as an animal kingdom hero for her effort to keep kids safe.
