Keep 89A Clean

As the Mayor of Folksville, AZ (USA), Editor of the Folksville News and resident of VSF I will be reducing my work load to promoting a cleaner community from 40-60 hours per week to 16 hours maximum. This has been made possible by 366 people on my e-mail list plus those in our VSF community who are willing to respond to this e-mail.

For those who don’t know the history of the “Road Warriors/Culture Warriors/CSI and now the Town of Folksville, AZ/Folksville News, they should know that we are a very independent group of people. We are dedicated to resisting those who illegally litter our area. We are being written about  and supported. Raffle prize donations and funding from people and businesses throughout the nation are and have been provided to inspire all involved. We are not political, we respect each others right to our own point of view; we’re one BIG HAPPY FAMILY who tolerates their at times dysfunctional Mayor, Thanks.

Randall’s Restaurant is where anyone may mail questions or input regarding the Folksville News stories or the “Litter Abatement” mission of the virtual Town of Folksville. Randall Hauk has offered his restaurant as a place for us to post our news stories and to become a place for people to come and find out how to get involved. He is now the President of Folksville, AZ which includes the communities of Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Jerome, Camp Verde, McGuireville (newly added), Sedona and Cornville where this movement was started.  if you wish to help with prize donations or donations to advance our cause.
Anyone wishing to donate money from $1 to ????? may send it to; The Mayor of Folksville c/o Randall’s Restaurant, 891 South Main Street, Cottonwood, AZ 86326. These fund will be used to pay our direct expenses such as printer ink cartridges, paper, copies, postage. We also provide funding to support our “Recycle Cash for Trash” movement: these funds are donated to organizations who pickup, sort and recycle the items they recover from the highway. Cottonwood’s LDS Boy Scout Troop recently made $515 from this effort. We are a movement that is totally funded by concerned citizens who are tired of litter in their community. All funds are deposited in a checking account and a paper trail of expenses is available to anyone who has contributed to the the cause.

We could also use help with graphic illustration, video recording, e-mail and mail list management, news story development, media contact, financial records plus a host of other tasks. What would you like to help with? We have 4 highway cleanups scheduled for 2010 and contact information may be picked up at Randall’s Restaurant. These events are scheduled for Feb. 13, May 15, Aug. 14 and Nov. 20, 2010. They will take place on Scenic Highway 89A and Highway 260. Just think what it would look like if every showed up on these dates, it would send a huge message to those who illegally litter our communities; we are making Arizona and National history, will you come help us?

  1. As a member of the highway cleanup crew for Verde Villages I would like to say that we all really appreciate Gary’s effort to pick up the bags of collected trash and get the items to the proper recycling facility. It was also nice that he stopped to talk to us during the last clean up.
As Linda, one of our crew members said: “Brighten a corner of your world” and that’s what we all do when we volunteer to help. And Gary has taken that a step farther by extending a hand to all of the community to encourage us all to be “greener” and work together.
    Great job Gary!
