   It has been a while since I commented on the goings on in the Sedona Fire District.

   Kudos to Karen Daines and her staff for receiving the GFOA Award for SFD Budget Presentation. It’s the second year in a row and it’s not an easy task to get such an award…our District is the only one so far that has achieved that goal.

   The new majority on the Sedona Fire District Governing Board seems to be going at full speed demonstrating their lack of preparation when they come to each of their “working” and “public” sessions. There is no leadership in the group…they seem to be going around in circles on issues they have to decide on. The items keep reappearing on the agenda week after week. They keep on making personal attacks against SFD staff with a vengeance never seen before. Their constant micromanaging of a professional Chief and his staff is frustrating to watch and read. Their goal seems to be the dismantling brick by brick of a finely tuned organization that took many years to build. The services they have been providing have been the envy of surrounding fire districts. How do people with no previous experience in fire services even think of telling professionals in the field how to do their jobs?

   Is this what the people of the Sedona Fire District wanted and voted for?
