Kabbalah – The Mystical Tradition of “Receiving”

Kabbalah, a Hebrew word, literally meaning “receiving,” contains many mystical elements hinted at in the Bible and developed through meditation and one-on-one oral transmission for many hundreds of years.  Rabbi Alicia Magal, spiritual leader of the Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley, is offering a course exploring some of the aspects of the study and practice of Kabbalah.  The four classes will meet on April 6, 13, 20, and 27 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the synagogue.

The awareness of the building blocks of the universe are described through various different models,  diagrams, or artistic descriptions, and are intended to transform our awareness of the constant flow of divinity in the world and help us attain harmony and balance in our lives.

In each of the four sessions, participants will delve into a different aspect of Kabbalistic teachings, including the breaking of the vessels from the original light; the Tree of Life model of the universe; the Four Worlds template of Action, Emotion, Thought, and Spirit; the fascinating connections of different words through gematria (numerology) and permutation of letters to find hidden meanings; and meditations and other avenues of mystical journeying.

If you have heard about Kabbalah and want to learn more about this ancient, yet very relevant, body of wisdom, please contact the JCSVV office at 928 204-1286, and register for the course.  The fee is $40 for non-members, and no charge for members of the JCSVV.
