grand canyon association logoSedona AZ (September 23, 2015) – The Grand Canyon Association (GCA), the non-profit partner of Grand Canyon National Park, is pleased to name Ann Scheflen as its new Chief Philanthropy Officer. She joined the GCA on August 17, and is headquartered in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Scheflen is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) with more than 15 years of development experience and a successful track record leading philanthropy programs.

“We are thrilled Ann Scheflen has joined our team, “ said Chief Executive Officer Susan Schroeder. “Ann’s experience and enthusiastic attitude will help us in our mission to raise critical private support to protect and enhance Grand Canyon National Park for present and future generations.”

Scheflen comes to the GCA from the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming where she served as Director of Advancement. During her time there, Scheflen led the organization’s marketing, special events and development programs. Because of her work, the museum was able to launch a successful building and endowment campaign.

Prior to her position with the National Museum of Wildlife Art, Scheflen worked at the Museum of New Mexico Foundation in Santa Fe, New Mexico for nearly 15 years serving first as Director of Membership and Marketing, and then as Vice President of Development. Scheflen doubled both membership and contributed revenue and created the largest arts membership in New Mexico.

“This is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help sustain a national treasure and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World,” said Scheflen. “It is awe inspiring. And, the Southwest is our home.”

The Grand Canyon Association was founded in 1932 and is the National Park Service’s official nonprofit partner raising private funds to benefit Grand Canyon National Park. The GCA operates retail shops and visitor centers within the park, and works to help preserve and protect Grand Canyon National Park by cultivating support, education and understanding of the park.
