SedonaEye.com columnist Eddie Maddock provides citizens with a recap of the November 25 Sedona City Council meeting

Sedona AZ (November 28, 2014) – Here is a recap of the Sedona City Council meeting held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014:

In addition to a personal version of Sedona’s Vision Statement by outgoing Mayor Rob Adams, which amounted to a lambasting of all who dared to entertain a thought process differing from the elected decision makers, the following agenda item was acted upon by the newly seated Mayor and Council Members:

AB 1881:

Discussion/possible action on a request for a contingency transfer from the General Fund Operating Reserve for two items: 1) $3,500 for the cost of a facilitator for a one-day team-building session on January 23, 2015; and, 2) up to $10,000 for a two-day community engagement workshop, featuring Peter Kageyama, author of “For The Love of Cities.”

Both agenda items were approved. However, Council member John Martinez voted to oppose the first item but tossed his hat in with fellow council members to pass the second item unanimously.

Thus, a “facilitator” will serve to instruct the newly elected City Council members and Mayor how to amicably get along. The $10,000 was approved as available funding for the workshop. Other contributors mentioned included – but was not limited to – $5,000 from the Sedona Regional Chamber of Commerce as recipients from over $1.3 million of city tax revenue, a nice gesture. Others have offered to assist – donation of rooms for workshop participants by Sedona Rouge, and it’s hopeful that more contributors will be forthcoming.

As the Sedona Performing Arts facility (Sedona Red Rock High School Auditorium) will be available to accommodate one of the workshops, it might be well to note that City Manager Tim Ernster made a point to clarify the two-day workshop will be featured as a “Regional Event” which seems only fair considering the high school is part of the Sedona-Oak Creek Unified School District and, same as the Fire District, not a direct operation of Sedona City government.

Oh for the love of cities.

I just found this article and had been wondering if anyone other then Myself had taken great offense at Adams twist on Sedona’s Vision Statement. I listened carefully and it seemed He slammed EVERY Sedona resident with His “Joke” (You know what they say about “Jokes”). I’m sure He will dismiss His friends from the statement later with a chuckle.

Adams is a very hostile individual and we are best to be rid of Him. ‘Just a Joke Rob’.

  2. Rob Adams always seemed like a nice mayor to me!

  3. TJ says:

Keep writing Eddie Maddock! It’s for the love of our fair city that you care enough to write it loud and clear for all of us to read. Don’t be quiet or fooled by council and coc whiners (and the winers)! Keep speaking truth to the deaf/dumb asses. We majority have your back. Here’s to the Sedona Times, keep up the good work bringing everyone to the table!

  4. JeanJ says:

@Bettye: I also opine that Adams is a very hostile individual.

And there’s more. As a 2010 mayoral candidate, Adams promised to “listen and follow the will of the people,” among other aspects of improving City governance. Hmmm…..

Then there’s City Hall financial matters. Haven’t new taxes or fees been imposed virtually every year Adams has been Mayor even though the City is under Home Rule? Meanwhile, the Chamber and various other regional groups receive City handouts as health and safety suffers.

The City’s actual expenditures have exceeded actual revenues for the last few years, and reserves for non-sewer capital projects such as roads, drainage and sidewalks will be scarce starting in FY 2017-18. According to the City Finance Dept. Manager upon advising the new City Council about upcoming challenges: “One of those challenges is the limited funding available for capital projects and new programs.”

Beware. Under Adams the City educated itself concerning General Obligation Bonds secured by City Property Taxes and Special Improvement Districts.

  5. Just Sayin' says:

    @Jean J

I also watched the video of Mayor Rob saying goodbye. He said it was a joke and I took it as such. I am guessing that since your feelings were hurt you must think it was directed at you. I don’t really think that it was but if the shoe fits………

As someone said in past postings, if you know how to do a better job, why didn’t you run for one of the open seats????? Oh yah then you’d be the one taking the pot shots instead of giving them.

  6. Sharlett says:

    Oh @Just Sayin’

You really do sound and speak exactly as council woman Jessica Williamson does….oh, how odd that two people should sound like one!

FYI: In order for people to help our community does not require them to run for office; it requires them to stay on top of all the issues of those who did run and were elected and who work damn hard to protect their personal agendas.

It’s up to all of us, who did not run, to continue to provide factual public information rather than treating the public like road kill! It’s up to all of us to cause our elected folks to be held accountable and respectful of those who voted them in.

hummm – do I not remember correctly that Jessica W used to be a city employee until she was “let go” or fired? hummm. does she have a little angst?

  7. JeanJ says:

Rob Adams’ remarks amounted to “a lambasting of all who dared to entertain a thought process differing from the elected decision makers” is per this Sedona Eye column. Nothing new here.

Perhaps Rob’s running for Mayor in 2010 on the promise “to listen and follow the will of the people,” among other aspects of improving City governance, was another of his ‘jokes?’

In that the majority of Sedona’s residents are senior citizens, obviously there are some in no position to run for City Council openings. Moreover, Sharlett is spot on about community involvement.

  8. Thomas says:

What? The very first meeting of this “new” council and they approved transferring $13,500 from the General Fund Operating Reserve for these two non-essential expenditures? Of course as at least one council member mutters “It’s such a small amount” maybe that attitude stems from the FACT that it isn’t coming from her own budget. It’s business as usual no matter who occupies those seven chairs.

  9. YOU DECIDE says:

The following is Rob Adams’ version of the City’s Vision Statement, offered with “tongue-in-cheek” for consideration to be adopted by the newly elected to the Sedona City Council:

“TO BE A CITY that is made up of a healthy percentage of cave people otherwise known as citizens against virtually everything.

TO BE A CITY that is constantly vigilant over the preservation of memories of how good things used to be in the good old days and has a gate on all entrances to our community.

TO BE A CITY that retains its small town rivalries and refuses to find compromise in anything.

TO BE A CITY that is animated by the arts as long as they are noise, traffic, dust and crowd free and are over by dark.

TO BE A CITY that welcomes and accommodates all of its visitors as long as they don’t get in our way, spend lots of money, and stick to the uptown area.

TO BE A CITY that retains and enhances a strong and vital economy where taxes are forbidden, businesses are invisible, but unlimited funding is available for whatever pet projects our citizens envision.

    And finally,

TO BE A CITY of 10,000 experts that miraculously have all the answers without any of the facts.”

    Humorous or not? You decide.

    Eddie Maddock

  10. Sound most Definetly like he is talking about the 10 people on this blog that hate everything..

    Amen Rob

    Couldn’t agree with him more…

  11. @West Sedons Resident. Really, West SedonS? Your anger is way too obvious and your credibility remains non-existent. Can’t even spell SedonA properly.
    HA, HA, HA, HA

    Merry Christmas, Scrooge

  12. Can’t stop laughing

Thanks for proof reading my post Sharlett / Julianna

BTW not angry, that all comes from you and your cohorts …. I like Sedona and Sedona government and thought Rob was /is a good man and mayor..

Are you so old that your mind is slipping away… All the negativity comes from you and your hate mongers…. I’m at total peace, no worrys sleep well at night..

I just enjoy putting hypocrital l A holes like you under the microscope and exposing you for the fraud you are..

  13. Good Girl, West Sedons Resident. Clearly you are paying attention. And I can assure you I’m neither “Sharlett nor Julianna.” In fact, for all I know you are all one and the same. Split personalities are non-selective.

Again I wish you a very Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year. BTW, some are making bets on how long it will take for you to remove the “moment of silence” at the beginning of Council Meetings.

    Cheers.

  14. Just Sayin' says:

    @West Sedona Resident

“You really do sound and speak exactly as council woman Jessica Williamson does….oh, how odd that two people should sound like one!”

LMAO, W Sedona Resident, you beat me to the punch; can you imagine, Sharlett has the ovaries to accuse me of being of being J Williamson when we all know that she’s Julianna in drag.

To answer the burning question on everyone’s mind, NO I AM NOT THE COUNCILWOMEN nor do I play her on TV. But you wouldn’t believe me anyway.

  15. Bettye says:

@ Eddie Maddock, thank You for printing the “joke” Vision Statement words.

After actually reading Adams “Tongue-in-Cheek” Vision Statement I have another thought… whether taking this personally or as a joke, any possible tourist that may be enticed here by Destination Marketing who reads this will probably be making alternative plans.

Since we have many tourists reading this site, I wonder how the Chamber of Commerce feels about this and the effect on future tourism?

  16. sharlett says:

    @Just Sayin’

Hate to burst your ovaries – I AM not “Julianna in drag.” You are so disgusting that it is just so over the top that you stoop as low as you continue to do.

Have you ever gotten a straight answer from Steve Segner about his “second” business up the Canyon – or do you care?

Poof – you are an non entity as you never have Facts – instead you just bully.

  17. Charles W. says:

And doesn’t Rob Adams realize he’s one of the 10,000 he trashed with his off-the wall sense of humor? But of course he fits in the shoes with his insistence for a “creek walk/park” and the foolish decision to buy the Brewer property for more than appraised value. Further, the results of his devotion to Chamber and Lodging is now surfacing with the miraculous invitation list from Steve Segner for free drinks and food at their expanded regular meeting aka Holiday Gala at Reds on December 9, 5:00 PM. Do you suppose this is being written off as another “Destination Marketing” promotion paid for with city money? Of course they will deny, deny, deny most likely but speaking of facts without an audit no one will ever know the source of that “free ride.”

And for silly residents not wanting visitors any place but uptown, not true. It’s Steve Segner now gone public about his opposition to another Visitors’ Center in West Sedona which would alleviate the traffic uptown and lessen the turnoff when tourists are stranded in gridlock for hours.

But what do I know? I just live here full time without a money-making enterprise (free from city taxes) “up the creek.”

  18. Mary S. says:

The entire scenario is disgusting. The City should immediately terminate the contract with the Chamber of Commerce thus allowing them to operate independently as the non-profit, special interest group for which they were organized. By doing that, they could legitimately serve as the Northern Gateway of Sedona Visitor’s Information Center under their own banner, Chamber of Commerce, and at their own expense.

With the USFS Information Center well to the south of Sedona, all that’s missing is an “official” City of Sedona Tourist Information facility at the “Western Gateway” in the vicinity of City Hall where it belongs. Shocking that the city leaders continue with their tunnel vision and agree with the conflicts created by allowing Chamber and Lodging to call all the shots which presently do not uphold the revised Community Plan.

Much more could be benefited by taking that $1.3 million dollars to provide adequate information to tourists and at the same time serve to attract destination tourism in a more dignified manner than this poppycock of uptown being the ideal location. Hogwash. Ask those waiting in a motionless and endless line of traffic on weekends.

Time also to beg ADOT for signage on I-17 indicating a turnoff to Sedona via SR260. A no-brainer for those that still have brains.

  19. There’s an official tourist place in the YC campus building! Big letters on building facing high school says Tourist (across from the high school, look for it) & how safe’s that we’re all asking people? You allowed a low class motel to build next to the high school, how safe is that? Pedophiles heaven??? Never knew it’s so easy to throw our kids under a bus to line Sedona developers, council and real estate agents pockets! Disgusted. Many parents saying same thing. Why don’t we hear you talking about how bad our high school feeder schools are? Stop stupid Spanish classes & start English immersion classes!!

  20. steve segner says:

Charles W. & Marry s and the Gang

The only reason I answer these silly posts is because, a lie often told can become perceived truth.

    Charles W says,
“Further, the results of his devotion to Chamber and Lodging is now surfacing with the miraculous invitation list from Steve Segner for free drinks and food at their expanded regular meeting aka Holiday Gala at Reds on December 9, 5:00 PM. Do you suppose this is being written off as another “Destination Marketing” promotion paid for with city money.

“devotion to Chamber and Lodging is now surfacing” WoW, you are a little slow on the up take.

The Sedona Loading Council is having a Holliday get together for all hotel managers and The Lodging Council is paying for it. Charles, why all the hate over a party. Paid for my it’s members.

    sharlett says:
“Have you ever gotten a straight answer from Steve Segner about his “second” business up the Canyon ?”

As for the question of weddings, I do not have a wedding venue up the canyon. I do let “not for profits” use it free for fundraising, like Sedona Chamber Music.
So what if I let charities use my property to raise money and why would I pay taxes on a free event. It is out side the city limits and I do not charge?
Are you up set that I have a property out of town? Or that I let people use it.
I really do not understand. There will be one wedding this year and it is for a friend. If it is any of your business.
    . Charles W. says:
You said, Steve Segner now gone public about his opposition to another Visitors’ Center in West Sedona, not true, I said the place the chamber has up town is better then the old flower shop in west Sedona. And it is on the wrong side of the street. I did not go public I just stated my opinion.

Rob Adams was not tongue in cheek. he was right on and I hope the new city council will look at his comments before every meeting to help guide them.
I think Rob, like a lot of us are worried that Sedona will turn into Sun City North. One big retirement village, with the city council acting as a gated homeowners association.

And yes, I vote in Sedona, but you all know that.
Any other questions I can answer?
    Steve Segner

  21. Just Sayin' says:

    @Sharlett

You say that you’re not Julieanna but it’s ok for you to accuse me of being JW on city council, GET MY POINT!?!

NO, I don’t care about getting a straight answer from Steve Segner in the least. I may not agree with everything that he has said in the past, I know that he has offered more ideas to help this city than anyone on this site.

  22. Alarmed says:

Rob Adams’ version of the City’s Vision Statement is what it is. Discrimination and unfound charges against Sedona’s 10,000 residents because he can’t take it that many don’t agree with him and his BS. And, hey, Rob’s even gotten on Councilor Martinez’s case about the latter’s NO votes on a few Council agenda items involving spending.

  23. Susan L. says:

The different topics that surface on this site continue to amaze me. The point made by angry moms Jessica & Lisa are well taken, especially about another hotel proposed so close to the high school. I personally believe it was a bad idea and questioned the distance to the school if the hotel will be serving alcohol but apparently it cleared approval on that issue from a source higher than that of Sedona city council.

As for a Visitors’ Information Center at the property owned by Yavapai College, I’m very surprised that hasn’t been addressed by City of Sedona. And in particular it’s difficult to understand why a Visitors’ Information Center located in conjunction with another educational facility would be of concern to parents of high school children? Education is education so what’s wrong with providing an opportunity to educate visitors to Sedona than a facility at the Yavapai College or better yet closer to City Hall so that it may logically be identified as a provision of the City of Sedona and not a seedy and irreputable byproduct of the Regional Chamber of Commerce.

  24. Sharlett says:

@just Sayin and W Sedona and Can’t Stop Laughing.

You all are just so out of the box of reality, and are very crude. Let’s stay on track and stop your attacks on a person who states personal opinions! Is there a law against my personal opinions? My opinions have nothing to do with my ovaries or lack of.

I’m not so old that I have to put glitter in my hair to be noticed – and the person who does so knows she has been caught!

Lets look at another aspect of how this council has divested funds and the following invite comes from the president of the lodging council which is an Affinity Group (which means a partner and under their thumb) of our Regional Chamber of Commerce and controls our City Council.

Before you read the invite – let me ask you a rather simple question: who pays for something that is FREE when it is produced by either the Regional Chamber (aka funded by the City), the Lodging Council which has gotten itself fully funded by member dues and the Regional Chamber for advertising or the City? Easy answer: either the tax payers or members of the Lodging Council.

Another simple question: Did the Lodging Council ever poll their members asking if they wanted to use their dues to pay for a Free Party? Did they every poll their members if the agreed to raising the Bed Tax by .5%? NO WAY on both issues!

Read the invitation sent out by Lodging President Steve Segner:

    “Please join us!

The Sedona Lodging Council will be hosting a Holiday Gathering (in lieu of their monthly meeting) on December 9th at Red’s Restaurant at 5pm.

Come for some Holiday Cheer, FREE Drinks and Food. Cindy Woudenberg
    LuCorp Marketing

    Phoenix, AZ 85050
    480-719-8392
    “Leveraging Businesses Online”

Sent on behalf of Steve Segner, SLC President”

Who does this party benefit? Certainly not the Food Bank or the Humane Society or any other non profit which surly could use the money.

I’m embarrassed by the lack of moral turpitude shown by this council and lodging group. I’m embarrassed by the grab ass mentality of these people who have no regard for reality of Health, Safety and Welfare issues for our little town.

  25. No matter how you look at it, Rob Adams’ comments are a reflection of exactly what he thinks of Sedona residents (with the possible exception of Jennifer Wesselhoff and non-resident in charge Steve Segner and maybe a couple of others).

For those of us who wasted our time attending “chats” with Rob thinking he was genuinely interested in our concerns, now we know how bored he must have been and how foolish we were to waste our time.

My only hope is that when and if the time comes for Sedona landmarks to be named after some dignitary Rob Adams will be discarded as quickly as he discarded respect for the citizens of Sedona. Some joke, Rob, but who’s laughing besides yourself?

  26. Just Sayin' says:

    @ Sharlett

I’m guessing that you’re upset because you weren’t invited to the lodging council party.

BTW when you say: ” Did the Lodging Council ever poll their members asking if they wanted to use their dues to pay for a Free Party? Did they every poll their members if the agreed to raising the Bed Tax by .5%? NO WAY on both issues!

How can YOU say NO WAY? If you’re not Julianna like you keep saying than qualify yourself and say who you are and how YOU know this? Otherwise, you’re just spreading untruths.

  27. Pay no attention to Sharlett/julianna

She’s upset she didn’t get invited to the party. She thought she was going to get a break from her Sedona Eye ranting and enjoy herself for a few hours..

    Oh well Sharlett/Julianna
    Back to you hate ranting..

  28. Carol N. says:

Here we go again. It seems history is repeating with “Tom G.” and “Tom Bergen” being replaced with “West Sedona Resident” and “Just Sayin’.” And “Scarlett/Julianna” ?? continues plodding along.

What they all have in common is that none of them are willing to step up to the plate and reveal their true identity. Seems each and everyone (and they might all be “one”) take pleasure in doing their best to trash this site with their obscenities and disrespect to those with differing opinions.

Although I remain opposed to the city contract with the Chamber for Destination Marketing without Requests for Proposals it’s only fair to note that Steve Segner has no problem using his own name when conveying his opinions. Maybe the “troops” should take a page from his book whether or not they agree with differing policies.

  29. steve segner says:

    Scarlett SAID:

You said, the Lodging Council, which has gotten itself fully funded by member dues and the Regional Chamber

WRONG, THE ONLY MONEY WE GET COMES FROM HOTELS THAT ARE MEMBERS AND THEY PAY ONLY $3.00 A ROOM.
WE GET NOTHING FROM THE CHAMBER OR THE CITY.

And your comment re, I’m embarrassed by the lack of moral turpitude shown by this council and lodging group.

Because we are having a get together and celebrating a good year seem way out of line to you, and who are you to judge?
Scarlett are you not going to celebrate the holidays, the way you lay out this argument no business or group should have a party.
Grow up; the Sedona hotels have donated well over $150,000 this year in free rooms and food. This weekend we gave away over 65 free rooms to dancers for the Christmas program at the high school.
Again you speak and everyone can see
You are just filled with hate, why is it that? We live in a wonderful town full of nice people and hard working city employees, people willing to give there free time to help the city and chamber, shame on you Scarlett, you point your finger at others and you are really pointing it at yourself.

    Steve

  30. Just Sayin' says:

    THANK YOU STEVE SEGNER!

Why don’t you also continue with the real facts and explain to Sharlett how much your members donate in rooms for our beloved film festival!

People come from far and wide during the film festival and spend money in a variety of ways and also leave their sales tax which pays our property tax.

I bet that Sharlett never donated a dime to the x-mas tin cup let alone a room to someone who’s providing a service in our city.

and to Carol N. I’m sorry is that your name ? What does the N stand for? What a hypocrite!

  31. Thanks Steve S

Yes “Just Saying”. Very funny about Carol N….

She doesn’t practice what she preaches I suppose, right Carol ?

  32. Honestly, I couldn’t believe Rob Adams would write those words and so I checked out the video of the meeting on November 25.

About three minutes into the opening segment he made his presentation of his own version of the Vision Statement and yes the words appearing on this web site are correct.

As he began speaking there was absolutely no reaction from those attending that meeting. It was only after Rob went through a couple of his bullet points and he stopped and actually asked: “Doesn’t anyone else think this is funny?” when somewhat reluctantly it prodded a few hand claps and almost muffled laughs.

Bad show, Rob, after your State of City address a couple of weeks ago. You should have quit while you were ahead.

  33. @Carol N

I’ve been reading all of your postings Carol N and I couldn’t agree more with Steve Segner and the others. BTW, Harvey Weinstein is my real name!

  34. So lodging comps free rooms.

Nice gesture but do they collect bed and sales tax on those give-away accommodations?

As for the rooms they donate for the film festival, isn’t that another loss in tax revenue to the city?

Doesn’t the city contribute $250,000 or $350,000 to the film festival? It would be wonderful to have an audited report on that event. My bet is that the amount lost in bed/sales taxes due to “give-aways” plus city contribution would probably add up to even more than the $1.3 million for the destination marketing contract with the Chamber.

What’s wrong with this scenario? Oh I’m sure there will be answers from the handful of supporters who continue to whine even though they have total control of this city…

  35. Warren says:

@ Another Voice Among 10,000 – Rob is hypocrite for wanting a response to his bad jokes. How many meetings have I been to in which we were all lectured and admonished grade school style not to make any noise, clapping or otherwise? Too many. Indeed, I was at one meeting in which he told the crowd not to make faces (people were silently rolling their eyes, shaking their heads and frowning in disbelief of some Council nonsense). But I guess it’s different when he needs approval.

  36. While you elitists and flatlanders sit around and fight, your city is (has been) signed on to Agenda 21 for some time. As soon as all the international building codes, sustainable groups, smart growth and economic development is in place, the lowest levels of government will be removed. Notice all the school districts merging? You are being morphed into a megaregion while you sit around having pi**ing matches about nothing:

  37. The only people whinning here on this site are you “funnier by the minute” and I suspect it’s you Sharlett or Jullianna…..

You write so much BS that you constantly have to come up with more BS alias.

Steve don’t even bother replying to idiots. You have answered all thier BS questions honestly and directly which just brings forth more BS hate induced questions which can never be satisfied by these FRAUDS!!

Will of the people aye? Well the unimportant vocal minority will never be satisfied with anything except pot shots while contributing nothing. No wonder Rob didn’t take these idiots serious!

Suck it up vocal minority cause all your BS rants change nothing except fuel your anger… Merry Christmas j

  38. Sharlett says:

    @steve segner

While I appreciate your vast talents of being a self designated Spin Doctor and the author of the words to Council of “Just Trust Me, Just Trust Me, Just Trust ME” – I do believe that YOU should be held accountable for the words found on your own El Portal site: Below are Exact cut and paste’s off your site. No where is there any mention of non-profits. Come on Steve!!! You are trying to blow smoke and divert away from the real issue. When do you become accountable instead of trying to dumb down everyone else for your benefits? Read on.

Words right off your web site: “Segner Estates Country Ranch can accommodate more guests if you prefer a larger gathering. Set in the beautiful hills above Sedona this offers a truly unique destination wedding in Sedona!”

“That same painstaking attention to detail will be there in helping you plan your wedding. El Portal provides guests with unparalleled concierge services and has created many memorable Sedona weddings for up to thirty guests at the luxury inn OR UP to 100 at SEGNER ESTATES COUNTRY RANCH. The intimate and romantic courtyard is a beautiful place to say your vows lush gardens and towering red rocks make for a magical setting or some brides choose to hold the ceremony just a few steps away in the Tlaquepaque Chapel. Surrounded by huge sycamore trees tall vine-covered stucco walls and cobblestone pathways and court yard site feels like it has been around for centuries.”

Furthermore, You (Lodging Council) do in fact get money from the Regional Chamber as they get money from the City to advertise Sedona and thus reduces your over all advertising costs. That’s like a dumb no brainer! And if you want to play the semantics game – well pity you but that is just you thinking you are smarter than the rest of us. Not so!

The costs that Chamber/Lodging members pay towards your Christmas Party should be better well spent to poll and ask All Lodging Members if they agree with your Trust Me routine on raising the Bed Taxes……….instead of your Board throwing all your members down the rat hole!

Have any of the hotels that gave away $150,000.00 paid the associated taxes? Nope! They just use those donations as a write off. So how much money did the city loose?

Shame on YOU Mr. Segner for outright lying and attempting to make me look like the bad person as I ask you to become Real in where you live, where you vote, how you sell your up the canyon business (home) out for weddings and then deny same.

I am grown up and not afraid of you and your lies. You and your friends don’t work for the betterment of Sedona – ya only work for your own betterment!

P.S. Steve Segner – My family and I have donated far more more money to this community than you can even imagine…and we did it in good faith and not to get recognition.

And yet again @West sedona resident – I am not Julianna so for Gods sake find a new hobby or target! …….or just take a break until you can get in touch with reality!

  39. Just Sayin' says:

    @Sharlett
Thank you very much for posting info from El Portal. I never realized that it offered THAT many amenities. My granddaughter will be getting married in 2016 and would love me to set that up for her.

There you go again Sharlett twisting your BS:

” My family and I have donated far more more money to this community than you can even imagine…and we did it in good faith and not to get recognition.”

Post 1 thing that you have donated to help better our city!

Steve Segner is right for once when he states “Rob Adams was not tongue in cheek.”

BTW, those who take THE ARIZONA REPUBLIC have undoubtedly noticed the advertisements for El Portal that used to run in the Sunday Travel section somewhat frequently haven’t been there since the Chamber of Commerce got wind they’d be receiving a $1.3 million annual handout from the City.

  41. Norma says:

Smoke, mirrors, pushing, name calling, blackballing, strong-arming, and bullying doesn’t change the truth. Your plan didn’t work SS. No trust here. No return on Sedona City’s investment. Free rooms and food for events doesn’t collect sales and bed tax. You promised the city an increase in revenue, You failed.

WHEREAS, these entities are also in support of increasing the Transient Lodging ( Bed) Tax
from the current rate of 3% to 3.5% and for using the additional revenues generated from this
increase to fund greater efforts to attract visitors and tourists to Sedona; and

  42. Thanks for the gift that will keep on giving:

And finally, TO BE A CITY of 10,000 experts that miraculously have all the answers without any of the facts.”

Remember Adams exit poem when he decides to run for Yavapai County Supervisor. Someone has to “oversee” the huge expansion on the airport and take over the secret well manned kingdom of Chip Davis.

All politicians know that only about 1% of the population show up for issues. Those that show are labeled controversial and closed out. Don’t let that stop any of you from speaking freely.

These old men need to go off to pasture and spend time with family like they said .

  43. On that airport thing, I heard that the huge expansion on the airport will allow a 200 room Marriott along the mesa edge someplace near the Sky Ranch. Has anyone else heard that?

  44. Rob Adams to fill Davis’ seat? NEVER. NADA.

Rob’s a flaming liberal progressive and then something left of that and Chip’s a middle of the road Republican. Adams couldn’t be an effective dog catcher. He’d piss the dogs off & they’d throw themselves under a truck. Who’s floating that crap about Adams around for Davis seat? Call Davis and find out. Complain to the local Rep club. Stupid idea!

  45. Marty says:

Point well taken, ‘NEXT STOP YAVAPAI, COUNTY.” Thank you for repeating Rob Adams’ version of Sedona’s “Vision Statement.” for those that might have missed it in a previous post.

But let us not forget his grand plans for developing the acreage at the sewer plant OUTSIDE SEDONA CITY LIMITS.

The Red Rock Dry Creek land management group better raise their antennas.

  46. Steve S

    See what I’m talking about…Let them bark…they mean nothing…
The vocal minority amount to zero..

They cannot be satisfied it’s slwsys on to the next complaint..
As you can see the same two or three use different alias to pretend others speak with them on thier BS..Forgot them and let them doin in thier own crap..
BTW. I see Sharlett hasn’t come up with her vast list of contributions to Sedona Society… More lies

  47. Jenny says:

Adams is very nice. People be nice!!!

  48. steve Segner says:

    Sharlett says:
Words right off your web site: “Segner Estates Country Ranch can accommodate more guests i
my web page, read it and weep. http://www.elportalsedona.com/el-portal-sedona-hotel-wedding/
We do not do wedding we only recommend.

We stopped all weddings even at hotel in September.
    You Say,
Furthermore, You (Lodging Council) do in fact get money from the Regional Chamber as they get money from the City to advertise Sedona and thus reduces your over all advertising costs.
Wrong aegean, we are just a group that meets once a month and we do not advertise we are self funded.. two for two
As for all our free rooms we do not get a tax break, and with out all the free rooms we give out there would be no Sedona Film Festival, by that seem to be fine with you …. that is three.
Just Sayin’, I will make an exception for you grand daughters wedding I will also buy the wedding cake (you can not get a decent wedding cake in Sedona).
    Steve

  49. “with out all the free rooms we give out there would be no Sedona Film Festival,” so says Steve Segner. Really? And I suppose without the Regional Chamber of Commerce there would be no Sedona. And by the way, are you (Steve Segner) in the business of selling discounted winning lottery tickets? Or how about a bridge to nowhere or the proverbial refrigerator to an Eskimo? Get a grip.

About R. Adams’ potential to replace Chip Davis. Check archives of RRNews and possibly in the same article where he said he was going to do family stuff after leaving city council he addressed the possibility of running for Yavapai County Supervisor and most assuredly said it was something he would consider in one year, at the time the vacancy became a reality. Logically ties in neatly with his determination and drive to represent the “region” even when his legitimate charge of “reign” encompassed only Sedona City Limits.

  50. Marriott on Sedona county mesa? Fools one & two got big ideas.

One crash & goodbye business. Feet & Inches from the runway not MILES.

EPA rules it’s vicinity to runway & gas storage tanks says taboo, Sky Ranch wouldn’t get built now if it tried. Makes more sense & cents to add to Sky Ranch rather allow new built. Road can’t handle traffic & ADOT won’t approve permission. One car over side & its city lawsuit history settlement. They ve been warned.

If you Sedona squirrels think Adams will get county supervisors to approve squat take it from this Prescott political guy. DREAM ON SEDONA. Adams got as much clout with Prescott as prunes have on your Sedona colons$#$@$#
