Last Road Warrior Retires

Rusty's Morningstar Ranch "Hands"

As the last of the original “Road Warriors” and the Mayor of Folksville USA, I will be retiring on November 20, 2010 and passing the litter abatement “bag” to Rusty’s Morningstar Ranch.

On November 20, 2010, Rusty’s Morningstar Ranch will be taking the leadership role of the highway litter recovery and recycling process which was started in February of 2009 by the original Road Warriors.

Rusty’s Morningstar Ranch has teamed up with several organizations, businesses and individuals who currently support this effort to beautify the highways in our area. They have an A-Z process in place which includes recycling.

If you are interested in participating in this process please contact Marla Guerrero, Executive Director of Rusty’s Morningstar Ranch at (928) 634-4784 or e-mail Marla at mguerrero@commspeed.net. There is something for everyone to do.

Randall’s Restaurant has agreed to provide wall space for Rusty’s to display information regarding this community effort. This display includes digital photos of those who are actively participating in this activity. Randall’s is located at 891 S. Main, Cottonwood, AZ. This display is currently being developed and should be in place by November 2010.

Tire Pro Automotive has agreed to transport all recovered litter collected by the ADOT Adopt-A-Highway Permittee’s from the highway to Rusty’s Morningstar Ranch where Rusty’s will separate the trash from recyclables and donate the recyclables to Sedona Recycles.

Taylor and Son’s have provided a trash dumpster free of charge for Rusty’s to dispose of trash items.

The New Sedona Times Publishing, Four Corners Magazine, Verde Independent and Yavapai Broadcasting have been passionate about covering this community effort.

Until November 20, 2010, I will be covering a few stories loose ends for this year’s activities. After retiring, I will be writing a few editorials and enjoying family time.

In appreciation for everyone’s support and effort throughout the years, may we always be mindful of our role in keeping our American byways and highways clean and beautiful. Each of us is responsible for being a custodian of our fragile environment. The final Folksville USA sponsored highway clean-up project is scheduled for November 14, 2010. Please volunteer your time and a few dollars to help make this Arizona litter abatement and clean-up a resounding local success!
