Flagstaff Red Cross Shelters Fire Evacuees

Sedona AZ (May 22, 2014)The American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter had 18 evacuees overnight in the Flagstaff shelter located at the Sinagua Middle School at 3950 East Butler Avenue, Flagstaff, Arizona. The shelter is part of the integrated response to the Slide Fire and is being staffed by Red Cross workers from throughout Arizona.

Meals at the shelter are being provided by The Salvation Army and small animals are being cared for at the Coconino Humane Association located at 3501 East Butler Avenue, Flagstaff. At this time, donations of food and clothing from individuals are not needed, and are not being accepted at the shelter.

The American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter is also offering training for individuals in Flagstaff who are interested in volunteering to provide disaster relief. The training will run from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. today at the Flagstaff office of the American Red Cross located at 1750 Railroad Springs Boulevard, Suite 1 in Flagstaff. Anyone interested in this training should contact Flo Hencken at flo.hencken@redcross.org to reserve a spot.
