Sedona AZ (September 24, 2013)Beginning September 26, 2013, Standard Construction Company will begin shoulder improvements on Sunshine Lane in the City of Sedona. Work is scheduled from 7:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will continue through the month of October 2013.

The purpose of this city project is to provide a solution to an edge of road failure along Sunshine Lane (east side) between Sanborn Road and Thunder Vista Trail. The edge of the road is immediately adjacent to a drainage channel and in certain areas of the channel, the banks have eroded to a point where there is no shoulder, thus creating the potential for a safety concern.

Recently, City staff was able to secure additional right-of-way, as well as an additional drainage easement to provide these improvements. The project will seek to protect drivers from entering the channel and ensure the public road is completely within the public right-of-way. Additionally, improvements will be made in an attempt to keep further erosion from occurring.

Traffic restrictions will be in effect and a detour will route traffic around the work zone via north on Andante Drive and east onto Metate Drive to Sunshine Lane.

Local residential access on Sunshine Lane will be maintained during this city construction project.

Please allow extra time for your daily travels, slow down, and obey all flaggers, traffic control devices and detour routes. The City of Sedona thanks you for your patience.
