Sedona Golf Resort Juniper Bar and Grille, 35 Ridge Trail, first roundabout in the Village of Oak Creek, Sedona, Arizona 86351

Sedona AZ (August 29, 2013)Local restaurant reviewers who begin with “The view’s not bad…” or “The wine list was adequate…” fail to give readers a true sense of a restaurant. It is the back of the front efforts to plan, prepare and serve memorable meals while providing an unforgettable atmosphere of welcome and ambiance that tell the story because, after all, the only sign of a successful restaurant is whether diners come back, again and again, to sit at its tables.

In this Eye on Sedona Golf Resort Juniper Bar and Grille, I’ll introduce you to restaurant manager Steve Coughlin, a man for all Sedona culinary seasons. He offers excellence in dining for an amazingly reasonable price with stunning Bell Rock views at a gem of a resort.

The Sedona Golf Resort, 35 Ridge Trail in the Village of Oak Creek, is home to a championship golf course with a four-star rating from Golf Digest. Visitors and locals alike list the resort at the top of things to do in Sedona, Arizona. Its recently renovated clubhouse restaurant, Juniper Bar and Grille, offers al fesco outdoor patio dining and stylish cool interiors – both with views of sweeping red rock vistas and sculptured greens.

Want to experience Sedona outdoors? The Juniper Bar and Grille has stunning vistas inside and outside. Drop by for SGR Happy Hour $5 for 5 Drinks and Eats each weekday from 4-6 PM.

Management recently increased Juniper Bar and Grille hours of operation to meet increased demand, a reverse of many local restaurants struggling to remain open. Its hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon serving breakfast and lunch, respectively. The spectacular restaurant views are a favorite of destination weddings – the Sedona Golf Resort Juniper Bar and Grille restaurant is booked exclusively on Fridays and Saturdays for brides and grooms and other special events – all to create the perfect Sedona memory!

Over time, many have asked the Sedona Golf Resort management to open in the evening and offer dinner in the clubhouse with its gorgeous views. That time came with the arrival of locally experienced Steve Coughlin, formerly of Dahl and DiLuca, who is tasked with managing the newly renovated restaurant.

Coughlin knew that the tiny Village of Oak Creek with its cluster retail centers and outlets that overlooked parking lots needed an inexpensive yet classy casual venue, resort style, with visible Sedona red rock grandeur. He also knew that a well-stocked bar, excellent wine list, good beers, quality food reasonably priced, live music, superbly trained waitstaff, a warm welcome and time to linger for guests was difficult to find under one roof in Sedona. The result?

The best restaurant date in Sedona? Find your Sedona Moment at the Sedona Golf Resort this week.

Now the public will enjoy the Sedona Golf Resort’s destination wedding venue – without waiting for a wedding invitation – every Thursday evening from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. proving an evening at a Sedona resort with friends and family is a weekly option!

Not one to stop at a single good idea, Coughlin wanted the golf resort to be available in the afternoons for golfers and walkers, visitors and locals, for anyone wanting a late afternoon drink or bite to eat. With its relaxing outdoor patios and cool restaurant interiors surrounded by floor to ceiling glass, the Sedona Golf Resort Juniper Bar and Grille Happy Hour begins late August from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with all items offered at $5.00 each.

Yes, that’s right. $5 for 5.

  • Five choices of red/white wine
  • Five appetizers
  • Five cocktails
  • Burgers

Coughlin explains, “After managing Dahl and DiLuca for three years, I was ready for a new challenge. I found the Juniper Bar and Grille was as good (if not better) than most area restaurants; however, many of the locals in the VOC and Sedona do not know about our eating establishment. My role is to build relationships within the local community and remind people that we are here. We are also a better value than our competitors with a menu 10% to 20% cheaper than most. There is no better view while eating than at the Juniper Bar and Grille with a wonderful view of Bell Rock; it’s stunning!”

Hailing from Hershey, Pennsylvania, Coughlin embraces his well-honed Pennsylvania work ethic and service integrity. His aspirations for the golf resort restaurant? A fair price, unbridled service, consistency, and, he adds, “Community involvement – we have to give back to the community in some fashion..for example, volunteering, events, family activities, kids golf training, and more.”

Eric Williams 4

Throughout 2013 find Sedona’s popular Eric Williams in performance at the Sedona Golf Resort Sunday Brunch from 9:30-11:30 AM. Ask Eric to play your favorite tunes!

So Coughlin planned an afternoon Sedona Golf Resort 25th Year Anniversary Party on the Range and everyone is invited on September 15, 2013, at 4:00 PM. This free community thank you event is open to the public and offers live music, games, food, and golf. Find the driving range and join in the fun – tip a glass while enjoying a knosh and knibble surrounded by the grandeur of Sedona! Bring friends and meet your neighbors!

For me, Coughlin’s favorite piece de resistance?

Wake up, Sedona! It’s the beginning of a new day featuring the Great Sunday Morning Brunch at the Sedona Golf Resort. This Village of Oak Creek clubhouse restaurant with its precisely manicured greens and red rock views is the perfect setting to unwind during the weekend.
