Craigslist Listing Leads to Burglary Suspects

Yavapai County Sheriff's Office Area Commands MapSedona AZ (January 5, 2016) – On January 1, 2016, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a reported burglary of a cabin located south of Prescott, off of Senator Highway. The victim indicated the burglary had occurred several weeks prior and one of the missing items was a 1900’s antique stove weighing more than 300 pounds. Within 24 hours, the victim discovered the stove for sale in a Craigslist ad and notified YCSO detectives. The investigating detectives contacted the seller while withholding their identity. The seller agreed to meet in a Prescott area business parking lot and, upon arrival the following day, tried to sell the victim’s stove. Detectives identified themselves and arrested Larry Adams, 36, from Walker, AZ.

Adams claimed he bought the stove several months prior at a swap meet, but his timeline directly contradicted the victim’s information as to when the stove was taken. Adams was charged with Burglary, Trafficking in Stolen Property, Possession of Burglary Tools and Theft.

Adams had arrived with another man, Beau Swisher, 30, from Walker, who was not held. Adams was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center on the indicated charges and remains in-custody on a $15,000 bond.

As of January 4, 2016, detectives had developed information linking Adams and Swisher to possession of additional stolen property possibly related to this case and others in the area. Today, January 5, detectives contacted Swisher at his Walker home in the 6000 block of East Bannie Mine Road to investigate. During a check of the property, detectives located a chain saw with a serial number matching information from a burglary that occurred at a Prescott National Forest church camp reported on November 28, 2015. As the search continued, seven additional tools believed stolen from the church camp’s storage unit were found.

Based on the information developed to date, detectives considered Swisher a participant with Adams in at least two burglaries. As a result, Swisher was arrested and booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges including two counts of Burglary, Theft and Trafficking in Stolen Property. Bond has not been set.
