Clean Elections Attorney General Debate

clean electionsSedona AZ (June 26, 2014) – The Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission will sponsor a debate for Republican Attorney General candidates Monday, July 7, 2014. The debate will air live on KAET Channel 8 starting at 5:30 p.m. and be moderated by Arizona Horizon host Ted Simons.  It will re-air at 10:00 p.m.

A viewing room will be set up for reporters to monitor and record the debate.  Reporters should arrive at KAET by 5 p.m.  KAET is located at 555 North Central Avenue, Suite 500, in Phoenix.

The debate is not open to the public.

Candidates who participate in Clean Elections to run for office are required to attend one primary election debate unless they are running unopposed. Candidates who are not running with Clean Elections funding are invited to join the debate, but their attendance is optional.

All Clean Elections debates will be posted online. The debates will be available on the Clean Elections website within 72 hours after they occur. The videos will remain online for voters to watch throughout the election. The debate will also be available on KAET’s website.

The 2014 primary election will take place August 26.  Early voting begins July 31, 2014. 

The Citizens Clean Elections Act was passed by voters in 1998 to promote participation in the political process and to ensure Arizona’s politics are free from corruption.  The Act provides funding for public and voter education.
