City of Sedona May and June 2013 scheduled street and parking lot maintenance

Sedona AZ (May 27, 2013) – The City of Sedona has scheduled a pavement preservation project from Tuesday, May 28, 2013, through Saturday, June 1, 2013, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Workers will be on site to direct traffic in the affected areas.

Several City parking lots are included in this project:

Sunset Park

• Posse Ground Park

• Teen Center

• Uptown Municipal Parking Lot

On Monday, June 17 through Wednesday, June 19, the city will be performing pavement preservation on Shelby Drive and roads in the Harmony Hills subdivision.

Pavement preservation involves applying a material to recently paved areas to extend the service life of the pavement. Material is applied by spraying the asphalt pavement. Travel and parking in the parking lots and roads will be restricted during the spraying time. After the material is sprayed, it takes approximately two hours to dry on the pavement. During those two hours, vehicular traffic will be restricted. If traffic uses the road or pavement during this time, the preservation material may track onto driveways and other off street surfaces.

The City of Sedona will not be responsible for cleaning up any tracking that may occur. If tracking occurs, it can be removed by cleaning the area with GOJO, a waterless hand cleaner that can be purchased at local hardware stores.

Overlay Of City Streets Starts June 4, 2013

The City has also scheduled the process of overlaying several roads within the city starting on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. The roads to be overlaid include Shadowrock Drive, Shadow Circle, Soldiers Pass Road, Pinion Shadows Circle, Rim Shadows Drive, Rim Shadows Circle, Canyon Shadows Drive, Roadrunner Drive, Cardinal Lane, Sinagua Drive, Hopi Drive and Kayenta Court from the intersection with St. John Vianney Lane to Rim Shadows Drive. The expected completion date is Friday, June 14. Work hours will be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Residents may expect minor traffic delays with re-routing of traffic.

Starting on Tuesday, June 4, through Tuesday, June 11, 2013, the contractor will prepare the roads for paving. Paving is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, June 12 and 13. Note that this schedule is subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances and or availability of asphalt.

The City realizes these projects may cause an inconvenience and appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation.
