Sedona AZ (February 8, 2014) – The Greater Arizona Mayor’s Association (GAMA) met in Phoenix, Arizona, on January 22, 2014, for its annual meeting and held elections. City of Sedona Mayor Rob Adams was elected as the 2014 Chairman unanimously by the members in attendance.

Mayor Adams is also on the Executive Board of the Arizona League of Cities and Towns, which is the State advocate for local governmental control. Mayor Adams states, “It is important that local governments closely monitor State Legislation each and every legislative session. I look forward to working and collaborating with the Mayors of our cities and towns and our State Legislators. Our goal should be to improve our communication and collaboration instead of working in silos.”

GAMA is an organization of mayors from member cities and towns, associated to provide a forum for the advancement of shared interests, issues, and legislation that benefits member cities and towns on such topics as water, economic development, public safety, and transportation. The member communities do not always agree on all issues, but the organization provides a platform for healthy dialogue and better understanding. All seventeen cities and towns are located in Coconino, Mohave, and Yavapai Counties. By speaking as one voice instead of seventeen individual voices, the collective population of the member cities would most likely have a greater impact on legislators as they consider legislation.

  1. Dear Mayor Adams,

I hope that you will consider exposing those that attended the GAMA meeting with the following phrase that will benefit Arizona and the nation.

If SedonaEYE.com readers will Google “America the Beautiful & BagReadyJobs” the results support a growing effort to make a difference in communities across America.

Mayor Adams, you have been one of two local Mayors who have recognized this Yavapai County effort.

It is my hope that you and other Mayors now make this effort your own.
