Arizona Governor Wants to Drop 310,000 from Medicaid Program

Sedona AZ (March 12, 2010) –  The following is a letter to the SedonaEye.com (formerly SedonaTimes.com) editor from reader Peggy Miller:

Dear Editor,

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer recently addressed the Mingus Mountain Republican Club and presented proposals which would include dropping 310,000 residents from the State’s Medicaid Program (AHCCCS) who currently receive medical and behavioral healthcare.

Mingus Center, adult behavioral healthcare, in Cottonwood, Arizona, treats individuals with AHCCCS insurance who are in crisis, withdrawing from substances, have co-occurring disorders, and/or require residential addiction treatment. When services are delayed or denied, conditions may become more severe and resistant to treatment.  A psychotic, manic, or depressive episode may result in lasting cognitive impairment, increased emergency room visits, hospitalization, and incarceration or suicide.

For more information on services provided by Mingus Center, please visit our websites  www.riohope.com and www.minguscenter.com.

Telephone contact 928-639-4440 or toll free 866-397-9789 and ask to speak with Admissions Manager Kathy Hoover on ext. 229.

The Mingus Center is located at 636 N. Main Street, Cottonwood, Arizona 86326.

Thank you,

Peggy Miller
