Annual Summer Food Drive Challenge

food drive hunger Sedona AZ (July 3, 2013) – The Northern Arizona Food Bank is please to announce our “Annual Summer Food Drive” which is in full swing from July 1 through September 15, 2013. We are encouraging local area businesses and organizations to hold a food drive with your employees. The top performers will be recognized by our food bank.

Please realize that during the summer months, our food bank shelves are much emptier than usual. It is a critical time of year when we need the support of the local business community to help us feed those in need.

The value of your gifts? Each participating business or organization will be tracked with the following formula to determine the winner.

  • Each volunteer hour = $17.85

  • A pound of donated food = $1.66

  • Monetary donations = amount given

Northern Arizona Food Bank will gladly pick up food drive donations so call us for a scheduled pick up. Bins, boxes, and bags may also be available on request.

Most needed food items? Canned meats and fish, canned fruits and vegetables, soup, chili, stew, peanut butter, pasta, rice, beans, boxed mashed potatoes, dried fruit, oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, healthy cereals, baby food and formula, and personal hygiene items.

Please join us in this Challenge! Call 928-526-2211 and or email NAFOODBANK@aol.com and visit www.nafoodbank.org .

  1. people should give food to hungry people

  2. Natural Grocers has set up an easy food bank donation program and you may already be helping! Each time you shop at their Flagstaff Store, just bring your own bags (any bags!) and they will donate 5 cents per shopping trip to the Northern Arizona Food Bank. Simply bring in your bags and donate to the food bank. You don’t even have to request it – if you B.Y.O. Bag, they’ll donate!

Since beginning their Bag-Free Checkout program in 2008, their company (together with their customers) have helped to feed children and families in many communities as well as reduce the number of bags that would go into the landfills by millions. Now that Flagstaff has a store, you have the opportunity to be part of this program and donate to your local food bank in the process. In the first quarter of this year, their store had nearly 15,000 bags recycled!

The Northern Arizona Food Bank would like to thank Natural Grocers for helping to support our community!
