Affordable Care Act Rate Hikes

white houseSedona AZ (June 02, 2015) – Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s foremost grassroots advocate for economic freedom based in Washington, DC, released the following statement today in response to the proposed premium hikes for hundreds of Affordable Care Act insurance plans:

“Millions of Americans could again see double-digit premium hikes next year, despite the fact that President Obama repeatedly promised his signature healthcare law would lower premiums by up to $2500 per family per year. This is just another in a long line of ObamaCare’s broken promises,” said Brent Gardner, Vice President of Government Affairs.

money downgrade 2“The President’s healthcare law is forcing millions of people to pay artificially inflated premiums just to satisfy the requirements of Washington bureaucrats. But the American people deserve healthcare choices that work for them, not for Washington. Clearly, this law is broken, and the ‘Affordable’ Care Act is a misnomer.”

Americans for Prosperity has aggressively opposed the President’s healthcare law since it was first proposed, citing the increased costs, loss of service, and negative effects on the economy that would result. Since President Obama’s Affordable Care Act took effect, AFP has called out its supporters and defenders for making numerous empty promises that continue to harm the American people.

Risk Corridors – Buried in the thousands of pages of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is a provision known as “risk corridors,” which promises that insurance companies would be bailed out if their involvement in the health care law goes south. It’s a slam dunk for insurance companies – they get billions in subsidies, Americans are forced to buy their product, and if it still doesn’t work out, they get bailed out by taxpayers.

I’m not OK w/it. You? Senators & Congress better get this changed soon or lose my vote.
