Subject: City of Sedona Trash and Recycling City Council Work Session

Good afternoon,

This email is to inform you about the City Council Work Session in which Council will be updated on all the public input the city has received regarding a potential residential city-wide trash and recycling program. This public input was received in a number of ways including letters, emails, phone calls, a dedicated phone survey, public meetings, and focus groups.

The meeting will be held March 23rd at 3 PM in Council Chambers at 102 Roadrunner Dr. Staff will be seeking direction on whether or not City Council would like to continue moving the idea of a city-wide trash and recycling program forward, based on the public input collected to date.

As a resident who expressed interest in this topic by reaching out to the City, we thought you would be interested in this meeting, which you are welcome to attend. There will be an opportunity for public comment at this meeting. It will also be live-streamed online here: http://www.sedonaaz.gov/your-government/council-commissions-committees-boards/meetings-video-audio, and broadcast on channel 4 for SuddenLink Cable subscribers.

Come March 16th, you can access the Agenda Bill and staff report for this topic via the city’s Meeting – Documents web page, which you can find here: http://www.sedonaaz.gov/your-government/council-commissions-committees-boards/meetings-documents. From there, if you click on the City Council link, you can pick the date of the meeting (March 23rd) and from there you click on the Complete Packet link. Then by clicking on the item on trash and recycling in the Complete Packet, it will bring you down to the Agenda Bill and accompanying exhibits.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,
Lauren Browne

I’d planned to go to the Council meeting after lunch with friends and got to the end of my street and sat for 15 minutes before someone let me in and then by the time I went 1/4 mi it was to much to handle patiently and I made a U-Turn and started back. I was going to have lunch at Rene’s. I cancelled out. Then my friends called me back and said they’d decided to have lunch at Miley’s in the VOC and could I agree to meet them still and I could. Normal traffic headed south! If you’re trying to get to the Council meeting you might want to head out now.

  2. Lionel, Cottonwood says:

@Debbie heard there’s accident at VVMC, three or four cars, 179 is handling detour causing delays heading north to Sedona, check it out

  3. Sedona Police Department Spokesperson says:

A fatal accident has occurred on SR 89A informs the Sedona Police Department when contacted by SedonaEye.com. No other details are available except that the Verde Valley Medical Center is the last opportunity, if in traffic, to turn around on SR 89 as the highway will be closed indefinitely.

  4. Leigh, Sedona says:

I attended the meeting but after waiting more than 1 1/2 hours to get to “public comment,” I had to leave, and I wasn’t alone. There were so many great people there…I’m sorry we couldn’t just have met ourselves to discuss the matter.

    I’m wondering what happened.

Also, I’m also curious who knows how much the consulting group is being paid to manage the process. Thanks!

  5. OD says:

@leigh. Did you read comment about attendance ? I want to know answer too.

  6. Just Sayin' says:

    @ Leigh, Sedona

I was in the audience also I went to listen to the presenter to LEARN about this proposal before I condemned or support it. I guess you wanted to give your 2 cents and not bother to learn about it before you condemned it. It’s too bad that the guy took a long time but evidently he had a lot to say. It was sad that there were so many rude people sitting around me that wouldn’t stop speaking. The guy in front of me had the nerve to take a cell call and spoke for about 45 seconds. Because I have double hearing aids it was very hard to hear. So rude.

  7. @ Leigh, Sedona & OD says:

Maybe the comments under the article ‘ Blaming Garbage Trucks for Sedona Road Conditions Is Absurd’ will help You.

  8. Rosetta Martinez says:

Board votes to keep Big Park open, thank you to those that heard the voice of the community who pays your salary. Keep that perspective. It’s the right way to sit on any board.
