Chase Bank owned property found in county violation

Sedona AZ (April 15, 2015) –  The following is a letter to the SedonaEye.com editor from the office of Yavapai County Supervisor Jack R. Smith:

A case was heard before the Administrative Hearing Officer in Yavapai County on April 14, 2015, in regards to a home in the Castle Canyon Mesa neighborhood. Chase Bank was found responsible for the violations and a $20,000 fine was assessed, which is due immediately and payable to Yavapai County.

This fine will recorded against the property, as well as a Notice of Zoning Violation outlining the abatement requirements. In the event that the additional requirements are not met by 4/24/2015 to fence the property, remove the trash, cut the weeds and maintain the home in a secure fashion, an additional $30,000 sanction will be assessed.

Yavapai County has attempted to work with Chase Bank in this matter to very little avail. The Land Use and Planning Unit Manager has personally made 6 to 7 attempts with a representative of Chase Bank to secure this property with very specific instructions on what needs to be completed. The property in question is a public hazard in its current condition.

Supervisor Smith is committed to ensuring investors and property owners maintain their abandoned properties to sustain a vibrant and beautiful community. We will continue to address these issues that plaque our neighborhoods.

This press release is being issued on behalf of Yavapai County District 5 Supervisor Jack R. Smith, and represents the position or opinion of only Supervisor Jack R. Smith. For additional information, contact Cynthia Gentle, Administrative Assistant, Board of Supervisors Dewey office at 928-771-3209.
