Yes or No on Obama Healthcare Bill

Governor Jan Brewer, Arizona AP photo

Sedona AZ (July 12, 2012) – The following is a letter to the SedonaEye.com editor:

Dear Sedona Eye editors,

On Monday former presidential candidate Gov. Rick Perry announced Texas would not implement Obamacare, claiming that he “wasn’t going to be a part of expanding socializing of our medicine.”

He and governors like Governor Jan Brewer here in Arizona are standing in the way of health care coverage for millions of people. Will you sign my petition to Governor Jan Brewer and pass it on?

The petition says:

“Despite the Supreme Court ruling that the Affordable Care Act is constitutional, Republican governors are considering refusing billions in Medicaid funds that promise to insure millions of lower-income Americans without health care. Arizona’s Governor Brewer is currently considering whether or not to implement the ACA. The court found that while the Medicaid provision is constitutional, the federal government cannot take away federal funds from states that refuse to open the program to more residents. By refusing to open the program to more residents, Governor Brewer will sentence many residents of Arizona to bankruptcy, unnecessary health problems, and, for those folks with pre-existing conditions, possibly even death. Please sign the petition and ask Governor Brewer to do what is right for the people of Arizona. Implement the Affordable Health Care Act in full! ”

  2. HERE’S SOME MORE OF THAT “CHANGE” THAT SO MANY VOTED FOR IN 08……REALLY MAKES YOU PROUD OF OUR CONGRESS THAT IS LOOKING OUT FOR THE POPULATION. JUST THAT THEY ARE ABOVE ALL OF US COMMON FOLK AND NOTHING APPLIES TO THEM…………..

At age 76 when you most need it, you are not eligible for cancer treatment see page 272.

What Nancy Pelosi didn’t want us to know until after the healthcare bill was passed. Remember she said, “pass it and then read it!!.” Here it is, Obama Care Highlighted by Page Number

    THE CARE BILL HB 3200

Judge Kithil of Marble Falls, TX – highlighted the most egregious pages of HB3200 – Please read this…….. especially the reference to pages 58 & 59
    **
Page 50/section 152: The bill will provide insurance to all non-U.S. residents, even if they are here illegally.

    **
Page 58 and 59: The government will have real-time access to an individual’s bank account and will have the authority to make electronic fund transfers from those accounts.

    **
Page 65/section 164: The plan will be subsidized (by the government) for all union members, union retirees and for community organizations (such as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now-ACORN).

    **
Page 203/line 14-15: The tax imposed under this section will not be treated as a tax. (How could anybody in their right mind come up with that?)

    **
Page 241 and 253: Doctors will all be paid the same regardless of specialty, and the government will set all doctors’ fees.

    **
Page 272. Section 1145: Cancer hospital will ration care according to the patient’s age.

    **
Page 317 and 321: The government will impose a prohibition on hospital expansion; however, communities may petition for an exception.

    **
Page 425, line 4-12: The government mandates advance-care planning consultations. Those on Social Security will be required to attend an “end-of-life planning” seminar every five years. (Death counseling..)

    **
Page 429, line 13-25: The government will specify which doctors can write an end-of-life order.

“Finally, it is specifically stated that this bill will not apply to members of Congress. Members of Congress are already exempt from the Social Security system, and have a well-funded private plan that covers their retirement needs. If they were on our Social Security plan, I believe they would find a very quick ‘fix’ to make the plan financially sound for their future.”

  3. Mike says:

16 million uninsured so they pass a bill that will cause 80 million who like their insurance to lose it.

If you have a repeal petition I will signing that. Are you really serious in wanting the state or Arizona to take on 10s of millions in expenses without the funds from the federal government? Seriously? I did not know we were flush with .

  4. N. Baer says:

*Searching for the Truth” – You will not find it in what you posted.

However, if you look further, you will find the “facts” on Fact Checker regarding these false claims made by the Judge – Posted at 6:00 AM ET, 01/21/2011 http://voices.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2011/01/judges_letter_on_health_care.html . . . or if you prefer . . . http://www.snopes.com/politics/medical/kithil.asp

Mike – one of the more interesting “careers” I enjoyed was as a health care analyst for the State of MI. I performed post-payment review of Medicaid and Medicare claims. It was then I learned that those with health insurance are and have always been paying for those without, because as we all know, EVERYTHING in our economy has a cost. There is no ignoring that reality.

The Affordable Healthcare Act is a beginning for helping us to contain costs by spreading out the expense among the most number of people. I think that’s a pretty simple concept.

It provides a comprehensive plan that can be fine tuned. I’m surprised that people would feel “offended” that they would be contributing indirectly to their fellow citizens while at the same time containing their own healthcare expense.

  5. A few years ago Arizona had a insurance plan for those poor and not covered. It cost the people $5 a month.

The plan was dropped as those same people that crowd the emergency rooms night after night were unwilling to pay even $5 a month. Knowing they would get free medical treatments anyway so it tells you that the free loaders will stay that way no matter how little they have to pay. In the Obama plan they will still receive free medical as the Federal government didn’t drop the law that you can’t refuse medical service to anyone.

  6. N. Baer I have no problem with helping fellow citizens but here in Arizona it is the illegals that crowd the medical facilities. All day long you can sit outside the emergency rooms and see them come in and quite a few are driving cars much better than mine and clothes that they didn’t buy at the local outlets.

  7. N. Baer says:

Glenn Shannon – How do you know how many patients and their country of origin visit the ER on a weekly, daily, monthly or even yearly basis? Do you work in an ER or urgent care setting? Currently, you are paying more for those who may be illegals than you would pay under the Affordable Health Care Act because (as mentioned previously) the expense is spread over the largest pool of people.

  8. Dear N. Baer (the socialist);

Purported facts, as analyzed at The FactChecker or Snopes, are never the gospel. Check out their funding sources…George Soros. If you want to check out both the pros and cons of the Affordable Healthcare Act go to the Kaiser Foundation website at:

    http://healthreform.kff.org/

    J. Rick Normand

P.S. Chief Justice John Roberts ruled that the Affordable Healthcare Act is, indeed, a tax…which Barack Obama always denied. If you can’t believe the President on that issue, why should anyone believe anything else he promises?

  9. Doug B. says:

I would love to have everyone insured but the way President Obama is going about it is not the way to do it. Obamacare takes the choice away from the patient and the doctor and puts it in the hands of the state and politicians.

We should have come together as a nation and solved this problem decades ago. But each side is so lost in their ideology and beholden to special interests.

Obamacare is about control not healthcare. We have lost so many rights in the past few years and control is being more centralized which never goes well for a nations citizens if you look at history.

I am amazed at how many people have lost their awareness and don’t know much about how the money and banking systems work and allow a relative few at the top to have so much control over the rest of us.

The money they have stolen from Americans would more than pay for healthcare for all. They are masters and getting us to do what they want which is socialism as it makes it easier to control a populace if they are dependent on the state and not self-reliant within their own local communities and government and each other.

One more nibble everyday at our freedoms and constitutional rights till we wake up and wonder what happened to our liberty and Republic.

  10. To Doug B.;

Your comment was the best of all…well researched and superbly thought out. Kudos to you. You’re right on!

  11. Re: My Previous comment to N. Baer:

You would dupe the readers of SedonaEye into believing that Snopes and FactChecker are unbiased, neutral, truthful and accurate commentators on unsubstantiated facts or fact rumors presented to their readership. You know the truth N. Baer, so don’t pull this stunt again.

Snopes is well known to be financially backed by Obama’s chief financier/handler and supporter, one George Soros. I was mistaken in my earlier comment, however.

FactChecker is funded by the far-left oriented ANNENBERG Public Policy Foundation/ANNENBERG Foundation who provided website funding for former Weather Underground leader Bill Ayers…a mentor of President Obama.

By reciting these allegedly unbiased but camouflaged disinformation websites, you have, indeed, revealed your own political leanings. Please don’t try to trick anymore readers of this fine website.

    J. Rick Normand

  12. Doug B~I agree 300% with what you posted and echo Mr. Normand’s comments!

  13. Alarmed says:

    J. …Your comments on Snopes & Factchecker need some work.

You write them off as tools of the left. This is far from reality.

Snopes has no ties to George Soros or any other financiers, leftist or rightist. This is easily determined by visiting their website where they disclose their funding. You can accuse them of something else, but you are spreading falsehoods. Yes, Factchecker is funded by the Annenberg Foundation, but Mr. Annenberg was never described as a leftist or liberal. He was ambassador to England under Nixon and a close friend of Ronald Reagan. You need to check your facts and stop repeating the lies told by those who sully the truth.

  16. To Alarmed:

My facts are correct. You provide no authorities whatsoever. Why do you hide your name? Who are you? You obviously feel it necessary to hide your identity when posting something like this. Your post has no credibility and I have a feeling you are N. Baer.

    J. Rick Normand

  17. P.S. to Alarmed:
Snopes was founded by David and Barbara Mikkelson in the San Fernando Valley of California whose venture fund provider was the Democratic Alliance. The Democratic Alliance’s main foundation donor is George Soros as disclosed by their 501(3)(c) federal disclosures. Also, I find it curious that you conveniently didn’t mention that the Annenberg’s funded the radical and violent Bill Ayers, leader of the 60’s Weather Underground, to start his website. Again, please disclose your name.

  18. from their site:

The snopes.com web site is (and always has been) a completely independent, self-sufficient entity wholly owned by its operators, Barbara and David Mikkelson, and funded through advertising revenues. Neither the site nor its operators has ever received monies from (or been engaged in any business or editorial relationship with), any sponsor, investor, partner, political party, religious group, business organization, government agency, or any other outside group or organization.

Barbara Mikkelson is a Canadian citizen and as such cannot vote in U.S. elections, register an affiliation with a U.S. political party, or donate to any U.S. political campaign or candidate. David Mikkelson is an American citizen whose participation in U.S. politics has never extended beyond periodically exercising his civic duty at the ballot box. As FactCheck confirmed in April 2009, David is a registered independent who has never donated to, or worked on behalf of, any political campaign or party. The Mikkelsons are wholly apolitical, vastly preferring their quiet scholarly lives in the company of their five cats to any political considerations.

  19. Dear Patricia,

Think carefully about what you’ve just said and then ask yourself if you really believe in our judicial system. You have recited alleged facts about Snopes and FactChecker which are confirmed by…Snopes and FactChecker. In your world, apparently, if you were an accused in a court of law, you could have submitted as evidence your own uncontested version of the facts. In the discipline of polemics, what you have done is commit an inductive leap. Your recitals are not supported by third party investigative and empirical evidence.

And, by the way, I’m a registered independent. That hardly makes me apolitical nor anyone else.

    J. Rick Normand

  20. To everybody re: Snopes.com

When you go to Snopes.com to research anything, you would expect that the proprietors would have derived their investigative skills from employment with a municipal police department, or a state trooper division of government, or military intelligence, or the CIA, or at least a well-circulated investigative newspaper or book publisher, wouldn’t you? Then maybe you should know that the entirety of David Mikkelson’s experience to do world-class research before he started Snopes.com was that he founded and was the head of…the San Fernando Valley Folklore Society.

  21. Dear Petition Signers:

As of today, August 7th, our petition is in the hands of our state legislature and Governor Brewer. I want to thank you all for signing the petition.

The petition is about saving lives in Arizona. It is about finally having the ability to obtain insurance if you have a pre-existing condition. It is about patients and doctors, rather than the insurance companies, making decisions that affect their health. It is about keeping young people on their parents’ policy until they reach age 26. It is about the ability to afford healthcare for those who have had no choice in the past.

Although our chances are probably slim at getting the ACA implemented with this Governor and legislators, let’s all continue to monitor any news about the implementation of the ACA and remain active in the process. We can write personal letters to our local editors and to our elected representatives urging them to act. In addition, I personally will be working this election season to keep President Obama in office as he will continue to fight for healthcare for all.

All the best and thanks again for your support.

    Lillian H. Luscher

  22. Teak Monkey says:

Are you kidding, do you have any clue as to what you just wrote? who lied to you and said Obama was going to make healthcare affordable…….let me ask you this do you think petroleum is affordable? Look at that – we just answered the question. Can’t wait till that class act idiot is out of office!

  23. Dear Prospective Petition Signers:

The US medical system is the most expensive on earth without being the best and without providing full coverage. One-sixth of the American population has no medical coverage.

There are two main reasons that US medicine is so expensive. One is that profits are piled upon profits. In addition to wages and salaries for doctors, nurses, and medical personnel, the American health care system has to provide profits for private hospitals, diagnostic centers, insurance companies, and for the accountants, attorneys and management consultants made necessary by the enormous litigation and regulatory compliance cost. American medicine is the most regulated in the world and the most criminalized.

What “Obamacare” does is to divert Medicare and Medicaid monies to the profits of private insurance companies. Instead of providing medical care to those in need, the taxpayers’ money will provide bonuses for insurance executives and profits for their shareholders. It is the height of folly for Obama worshipers to defend a law written by the private insurance companies that uses public revenues to provide insurers with 50 million more customers and to add yet another layer of profits to the cost of American medicine.

STOP MAKING JUDGEMENTS BASED ON EMOTIONS AND START STUDYING THE FACTS!

  24. P.S. to Prospective Petition Signers:

STOP MAKING JUDGEMENTS BASED ON EMOTIONS AND START STUDYING THE FACTS! Eighty-three percent of American physicians have considered leaving their practices over President Barack Obama’s health care reform law, according to a survey released by the Doctor Patient Medical Association.

The DPMA, a non-partisan association of doctors and patients, surveyed a random selection of 699 doctors nationwide. The survey found that the majority have thought about bailing out of their careers over the legislation, which was upheld last month by the Supreme Court.

Even if doctors do not quit their jobs over the ruling, America will face a shortage of at least 90,000 doctors by 2020. The newly passed health care bill increases the demand for physicians by expanding insurance coverage. This change will exacerbate the current shortage as more Americans live past 65.

  25. Teak Monkey says:

    J. Rick normand,

The facts are that a government backed healthcare plan is in no their discription …..Socialmism. that is fact! last time I checked I lived in a country based on Democracy, not socialism, marksism or communism?
