Rickie Wilson arrested

Richie Wilson arrested for cocaine possession

Sedona AZ (March 6, 2013)On March 1, 2013, at approximately 7:15 in the evening, a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office K9 deputy stopped a black Nissan Murano driving without lights and following too closely on north Arizona Interstate 17, just south of the State Highway 169 junction. The driver was identified as 38-year-old Richie Wilson and his wife, 31-year-old Kristy Wilson, residents of Cottonwood, Arizona.

During a conversation with the couple, the deputy developed suspicion they may be concealing contraband. Both Wilsons would not agree to a consent search of the vehicle.

The deputy deployed his K9 partner who alerted on a door seam of the Nissan. Based on the confirmed K9 alert, YCSO deputies searched the vehicle and found three clear plastic bags in the glove compartment. Each bag contained a while powdery substance resembling cocaine. A field test confirmed the bags contents as cocaine weighing approximately 76 grams with an estimated street value in excess of $2500.

On February 5, 2013, YCSO detectives were notified of the presence of an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the Wal-Mart parking lot on Gail Gardner Road in Prescott, Arizona. The vehicle, a silver 2001 Toyota Tacoma pick-up, had been discovered during license plate reader patrol conducted by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB).

The Toyota had been reported stolen to the Phoenix Police Department on December 17, 2012, and listed 46-year-old Dana Hampton as a suspect in its theft. Detectives went to the Wal-Mart parking lot and reviewed its surveillance video. Activity related to the Toyota truck showed a female with shoulder length dark hair dropping it off during the late afternoon of February 4, 2013, then leaving in a silver sedan parked nearby.

The female in the video matched the description of the suspect, Dana Hampton. It appeared the suspect had been using the Wal-Mart lot as a place to access and park the stolen truck.

Detectives spoke with the truck’s owner who stated that in December 2012 his now ex-girlfriend, suspect Hampton, was loaned the truck and she refused to return it. Detectives also developed information that Hampton surveyed a local auto shop and questioned the best way to change a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). On February 20, 2013, Hampton was located at her Iron Springs Road home in Prescott, Arizona, and arrested for Theft of Means of Transportation. She has since been released on a $3000 bond.

On February 12, 2013, 35-year-old Joseph Chachere, from Texas, was arrested by a YCSO K9 deputy for DUI-drugs while driving on north Arizona State Highway 93 at mile post 159. During a search of the vehicle, a blue Toyota Corolla, deputies located freshly burned marijuana and approximately $18,000 wrapped in plastic in the Corolla trunk.

Chachere was unable to satisfactorily explain to the YCSO deputy how the money was obtained. He was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center on a charge of DUI-drugs. During booking, detention officers confirmed that Chachere had a State of Louisiana No Bond Parole Violation Warrant related to a theft. When contacted, Louisiana authorities noted they had an additional theft investigation underway which may be linked to the cash found by YCSO. Chachere remains in-custody pending extradition.
